    Can I do candida and colon cleanses naturally without buying expensive supplements?
    I would seriously like to do whole-body cleanses but supplements are expensive and I don't really trust a lot that ar on the market today? Does anyone know of natural ways to do candida and colon cleanses?

    • ANSWER:
      I read alternative therapy books a lot, and from them I've learned a few things:
      1) Candida is a nasty conditions that causes a lot of problems.
      2) Most doctors don't awknowledge that it exists (and say it's in your head etc).
      3) It's really difficult to treat.

      One of my friends came up to me and told me that she had candida, and explained how it was messing her up and that the doctors she'd seen hadn't really done s**t (or perscribed anything that work). I asked her if she'd tried fixing her diet and not eating sugar. She said she had somewhat, and it helped a little, but it didn't really make a difference. She also had eaten probiotics, which helped a bit.

      I'd recently finished reading a book on oxygen therapies which said candida is exteremely difficult to cure, regardless of what you do, but hydrogen peroxide seemed to actually do the trick very quickly.
      They advocated intravenous injection (which is a pain to do), but I thought drinking it might work as well since candida hangs out in the gut. I had some lying around and I'd used it for other stuff, so I figured I had nothing to lose by trying it. Neither of us thought it would work.
      I checked back with autumn in a few days, and she said that she didnt think it would work, but she started noticing changes after about 3 days, and within 10 most of her symptoms had gone away (in 2 weeks she said she felt like she as 95% of where she had been before, and "wow I can't believe how much candida messed me up").
      At some point, she lost the peroxide I gave her, and then went for about a week without it, at which point she noticed she got a lot worse (to about 50% of where she had been before she started, and said "I hope I don't have to use this stuff for the rest of my life."). We talked about it, and I theorized that the peroxide would probably need longer to completely kill the candida, but it might also be necessary to inject it to get some of the candida hangingou out in the bloodstream outside of the gut (in all the case studies I'd seen where peroxide worked, it was done intravenously, which we did not yet want to do).
      A bit later, while still not having peroxide, she came across a drink called kefir (another strong probiotic one), and started using it. She said that it got her to the last push of 99.9%, and that she planned to use that from now on, and has been fine ever since.
      Total sucesses with candida are very rare (a lot of these herbal things people suggest might work on one person, but never have consistent success since the condition is hard to treat), but I thought I'd share that example since I'm certain it happened (first hand experience), and I'd advise trying something similar.

      Candida normally occurs when you have too many things in your guy that feed the fungus (ie sugar), or your stomach bacteria are supressed and can't contain the fungus. The latter commonly happens when people are overperscribed antiobiotics (which happens a lot since doctors use antiobiotics zealously). Ie, it's very common for people to get a candida infection immediately after being treated for pneumonia.

      In our approach to treating it, we first killed off most of the candida with peroxide. Then once it was mostly gone, we put a lot of friendly bacteria in to put the balance in the gut back to where it should be. I don't think doing the latter will work if the Candida population is there in full force to begin with.

      As far as hydrogen peroxide goes, the stuff is harmless good for you if a few safey measures are followed:
      1) It has to be in a very low concentration (if you drink 30% you will most likely die and it burns skin if you touch it, whereas .05% helps your health a lot).
      2) It can't have toxic additives in it (most peroxide sold does)
      3) It needs to be drank away from meals (when you eat the stomach acids and proteins in gut can turn it into OH-, which is bad for you).

      The procedure she followed was very simple.
      1) Get a little bit of food grade 35% hydrogen peroxide* from me (you can buy it online), and an eyedropper.
      *It should be stored in the freezer if not used.
      2) Put 1 drop of 35% in a glass of water and drink it on the first day as far away from meals as possible.
      2) 2 drops the next day
      3) Keep on increasing* until it feels like you've done as much as feels comfortable (10 is the absolute max, she settled at 7).
      Some people increase at a slower rate, such as 1 drop for a week, then 2 for the next instead of 1 per day.
      4) once it feels peroxide has cleaned you out, switch to kefir (you cannot use both at the same time, since peroxide will kill the recently added probiotics)

      I'm not an expert on probiotics, but I do know their quality greatly varies from source to source, so you need to make sure you get a good brand. All I can say is that Kaffir seems to work well. If you don't want to deal with this, you can also just keep on using peroxide, or consult a doctor that works with oxygen therapies (and say can give you intravenous injections).

      Sometimes when you use peroxide, it will detoxify your system, and cause a lot of crap that was stored in your to come out quickly. This can be unpleasant for a few days (toxic flush syndrome), but once it passes you feel a lot better than you did before.

      Everything I said can also be done with ozone, and ozone colonics for instance work really well (as does drinking ozonated water). However, I do not have personal experience with either and both are more expensive than peroxide (and you asked for cheaper approaches). Oxygen is really good for getting the body to purge and flush stuff out, and if you follow a peroxide regimen it will most likely get a lot out of your system.

      Anyhow, I hope this helps. Candida is very difficult to cure and has a profound effect on people's lives, but hopefully if you follow this you'll be able to get better. Considering how much it helped my friend, I figure it's my duty to pass the knowledge on.

      *Eating foods with a lot of fiber also helps clean the colon out.

    Okay so I tried eating more fiber i have made bean soup for shits sake but i just cant go not im full of crap and i have gained three pounds. How should I go about doing a colon cleanse? Laxative fiber capsule??? What should I do?

      You can buy a home enema from the pharmacy or drugstore. It's not like the bad old days. It's just like a little tube smaller than a small tube of toothpaste, and you just insert the nozzle and squirt the stuff into your rectum. It will produce results very quickly.

      A colon cleanse is usually done by what they call colonic irrigation, you go to a special clinic and they give you enemas, usually of lukewarm soapy water.

      Or you can take a stronger laxative such as coloxyl.

      I once studied biochemistry and I used to work out quite a bit.

      You really have to understand how food works. Chemically, sugar, starch, protein and fat are pretty much the same molecule. They just differ in how your body processes what you eat. Sugars are instant energy, starches are longer term energy and fats are the hardest to break down but the easiest to convert to fat on YOU. Protein is easily converted to muscle, if your working hard enough that you body needs protein.

      Supplements in general are like snake oil. Everyone is selling the idea that by taking their special sugar-vitamin water of the month, you can gain pounds faster and build muscle. Every year, millions of dollars are spent on the newest fad product. This year is Acai products.

      Most bodybuilders agree (from interviews I have read with Olympic athletes, pro bodybuilders and etc.) that the staple supplements are creatine, glutamine, and Protein.

      Creatine allegedly makes your body absorb water so the wastes generated by working out are more diluted in your system. This means you get less tired, less quickly and less sore after working out which would mean that you could work out harder and more frequently.

      Glutamine is part of Testosterone. It’s allegedly the part that your most frequently short of, when your body tries to build its own testosterone. By taking Glutamine, you produce as much Testosterone as your body can, without steroids. Testosterone is produced by using your muscles, but that's another question with another long answer.       Eat a balanced diet heavy in fruits and vegetables. Eat protein (Eggs, meat, soy, fish, etc...) in smallish amounts throughout the day. Overeating makes you fat, not buff.

      One theory is that while body building, you need to keep snacking on healthy sources in between meals. Drink enough water, until you’re pee is nearly clear. You should be drinking at least a liter a day. Minimum. At your size, weight and age, just lifting progressively heavier weights and eating three meals a day should be sufficient.

      Colon Cleanse? It’s to make your bowels more regular? Why would that have anything to do with building muscle? What are they supposed to be cleansing from your system? If they say "toxins" ask "What toxins specifically does it remove?" It sounds like something my grandfather would be taking.

      Body odors come from two sources. Cleanliness and diet.
      Many people go through life smelling to high heaven because their diet is full of processed and refined foods, drinks, supplements, coffee, tobacco, etc;
      By the same token healthy foods like onions, broccoli, asparagus, cabbage, curry powder, etc; can contribute to strong odors.
      Everything that goes in must come out.
      If your stool is offensive as well it is most likely diet.

      A colon cleanse means just what it says--it cleans all the debris out of your colon. What happens depends on the method you use. You can take oral products or do an enema. Oral products may be mild or strong. The mild products cause your bowels to move more. You will go to the bathroom more often and have softer stools with maybe some gas. You should never just throw out a health question like that and expect that people who answer it will a) have your best interest at heart while answering it and b) take their answer serious enough to research it properly before spewing their ridiculous ideas off the tops or their heads, and c) telling you about all the desperate and ineffective diets they've ruined their health trying.

      Do your research online and loon for reputable detox programs, then schedule an appointment with your doctor and get some feedback about body detox, what it really means to detox, and what are some of the things you can do to facilitate a successful detox. If you don't have a regular physician - try calling a nearby hospital and ask to speak to a triage nurse - let her or him know up front that you just have a question and ask them how a person can safely detoxify their body.

      They may tell you the best way to naturally and consistently detox is to eat healthy and exercise. And if you need a particular cleansing - maybe have a colonic or something that will gently flush impacted waste materials from you bowels as well as get information on how to put good bacteria back in your colon after the bad gunk has been flushed out. There are probably some benefits to various teas but be careful of just putting anything in your body when you don't know what it really does or how your particular body might react to it.

      Fasting is always good. It gives your body a rest! And rest is always good. A good thing to do is to maybe fast one day a week. ANd you can do longer fasts at different times of the year. But it still leaves you with some snacks and goodies to choose from as long as they don't fall in the sweets category. To drink - you can have unsweetened water, coffee, tea.

      The second week we cut out the potato chips and junk foods and fast foods. This elimination leaves you with no junk food whatsoever this week. You're just eating normal and normally healthy foods (home made sandwiches and meals with fresh ingredients - no snacks or desserts). And you get rid of the coffee. You can have unsweetened tea and water.

      The third week we get rid of the good stuff - the meats, the fish, the breads and cheeses, the eggs and the yoghurt. Basically you're just eating fruits and vegetables at this stage. You can use light (non creamy dressings) for your salad like oil and vinegar, ceaser, italian, etc. And there's no end to salad combinations here - make fruits and greens salads, fruit salads, greens salads. Cooking shows have endless delicious combinations - as long as you stick to fruits and veggies and clear dressings. Go nuts with nuts. Create your signature salad - experiment to your heart's content because this is your last week of food! And it's your last week of teas as well. You can have plenty of water though.

      The fourth week. Be strong. Don't fast unless you know you're not gonna have stressful or vigorous work - and make sure you're on holiday or vacation because this week you'll be eating - nothing. You can have water to your heart's content though. Ocassionally for people who want to do this and have health issues (like diabetes or something) they will have to modify their fast to accommodate. And for other people - instead of drinking just water, they may actually need to do something else like just drink light broth based on doctor's orders or level of comfort.

      And at the end of a month - you can help but be healthier and cleaner because of the gradual detox. That's not a suggestion for you, per se, just letting you know how we deal with it. But for us, fasting is a normal part of our religious expression. And it has amazing benefits. Start slow and make sure you take care of yourself if you do just go ahead and decide to do something. These chemicals have a way of effecting us that we don't always anticipate.

      I once had a friend who had diarrhea on herself - IN PUBLIC because it came on her unexpectedly! Cleansing will of course involve some level of defecation so pay close attention to what the result of the detox will be. For some detoxes - they recommend you definitely stay AT HOME and within close range of a toilet so you won't have an unnecessary accident (like my friend).

Any "toxins" you eat are long absorbed before the colon cleanse potion would arrive anyway. Getting toxins like heavy metals and pesticides out of the human body required chelation, which is dangerous enough done in a hospital setting by people who know what they are doing.       If you're an endomorph or mesomorph, it'll be pretty hard to have that skinny look. I assume you're an ectomorph considering that you see the possibility of looking really skinny.

      The way I would achieve that would be doing high cardio vascular workouts. These will burn all the fat away, but at the same time give you the muscle tone. You don't want the skinny and BONY look. Yuck! And very unhealthy.

      I would also do light weight, high repetition, body building. Once again, this will cut away the fat (doing it right, you'll be burning fat in your sleep! Study about it) but at the same time keep up your muscle tone. Without giving you bulky muscles. The way you get bulky muscles is by doing low repetitions with heavy weights - you don't want to do that.

    Is there a good home treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome?
    I suffer from IBS, and it is really starting to take it's toll on my social and family life. It only really affects me when it's time to leave the house (when my adrenaline levels are elevated), and it is making me miserable. I haven't been out to eat with my hubby and kids in a couple years at least, because the "flare ups" make me miserable and shake and sweat and I can't possibly eat.     I've had this problem for most of my life, but it has gotten significantly worse since I had my gallbladder removed in December of '04. It is much more painfuul now (to the point I feel faint).

      I've had the same problem on and off my entire life. Do NOT drink extra coffee like the person above me said. Coffee contains tanic acid, which irritates the lining of your stomach and can cause diarrhea. You don't get "over it" like they said. It just irritates your stomach more and more.

      A natural remedy would be peppermint. You can find the essential oil of peppermint at any natural foods store. Put a few drops up to a spoonful into some herbal tea and drink it. Avoid coffee & carbonated drinks as they're irritating. If you need caffeine to wake up in the morning, try green tea. It's not great on a stomach but much softer on it than coffee.

      Licorice (black, not red) is also a remedy for upset stomach & diarrhea in general. You can find licorice tea at most stores.
