      Drink lots of water, and eat lots of fiber and vegetables.

      There is no need to actively "cleanse" your digestive system, you body will do that for you. I recommend NOT taking a fiber supplement, such as psyllium seed husk, unless you are having persisent digestive problems.

      Drink lots of water, and don't eat any processed foods. Try to eat fresh, organic produce and avoid the twinkees and stuff. A good rule of thumb is to stay on the outermost edges of the supermarket when shopping, because that's usually where the best foods are.

    • ANSWER:
      You can get a bottle of magnesium citrate from any drug store or WalMart, it is a green bottle of lime flavored liquid (tastes kinda weird but not horrible). You drink the whole bottle ( I think it's about 10 oz.) and believe me it will totally clean you out. I am a cancer patient and I have to do this before any major test/scan of my digestive system. It is easy and very cheap (less than 2.00 per bottle.) It also works very fast (anywhere from 1 1/2 to 6 hours later).

    I am 19 year old, deaf (so hate seeing doctor as I cant talk to him without interpretor) and have 2 bowel movement a week which I think bad.

      Drinking Water:
      Drinking Water is instrumental in detoxification. Water flushes toxins and waste from the body and transports nutrients to where they are needed. Try to drink eight to ten glasses of pure water a day.

      Baths and Saunas
      Water is also useful externally: baths and saunas can help detoxification. Hot water increases blood flow and capillary action near the surface of the skin, causing faster release of toxins. The heat also increases sweating and opens up pores. However, you should make sure that the water in which you bathe is pure. You should also be careful because the hot water and detoxification effect could cause dizziness; if so, don’t try to get up. Many health practitioners recommend having someone in the house when you take a detoxification bath. There are a number of substances you can add to your bath to help the detoxification process.

      Eating a Healthy Diet
      Eating a healthy diet ensures that you get proper nutrition and also helps the cleansing process.       Hi,Why do you want to cleanse your body?If you are worried about toxins,maybee your diet is not very good?
      Do not buy these detox packages they are a waiste of money,you need to sensibly look at why you feel the need to detox?have you had a bad month with Alcohol,or a bad fast food Month,or lots of candies,pastries,chocolates cookies etc?If you eat a healthy diet,with plenty of fruits,veggies,fish,etc there would be absolutely no need to Detox what so ever!A three day fast with drinking mineral water(lots!)with lemon juice,will help clear you out,but is not a substitute for a long term healthy diet and lifestyle.

    What types of foods should someone looking to reset their digestive system eat. My girlfriends stomach seems to produce to much acid, and thus results in her stomach being sore. What would you recomend diet wise? or in general if you have anything else to help.

      Get some all natural apple juice, not he clear stuff it's made from concentrate. Drink 8 oz. every hour starting at 8:00am until 8:00 at night and no other food. Do this for 2 days on the morning of the 3rd day just have a light broth and then start eating healthy foods like fresh fruits and vegetables. Absolutely no sodas or white foods especially sugar. Eat plenty of fish and cut back on the diary in case she is lactose intolerant. Good luck

      No "herbal" parasite cleanse is going to work. How do you know you have internal parasites?
      The only way a layman can tell is to see them in the toilet or on the paper after.
      Or did you see an "informative" video along with a product being sold?
      If you really do have parasites there are approved pharmaceutical drugs to terminate them with little side effect.

      A seven day vegetable juice cleanse, and enema just for a start too. A few of my friends highly recommend colonics as great cleansers.

      I think the answer would be yes. The probiotic puts beneficial bacteria into your stomach, while the parasite pill kills off tape worms etc. They are two totally different things, and anyway probiotics are beneficial at any time. That's why it's a really good thing to eat yogurt every day. (ESPECIALLY when you're taking antibiotics!)

    I was on a fresh vegetable, fruit and water cleanse for about four days and was seeing the the results but, fell off and am now, planning to re-begin it.

    I have had severe and chronic IBS for several years since the removal of my gall bladder and seem to have difficulty digesting fats and protein. In the past year, it has become debilitating and I need HELP!

      OK, so your doing a cleanse. You will find allot of flack around here for doing so. I neither say ya or nay on cleansing. I have done some before and have had great results treating some issues. I like the fact your doing a natural cleanse with water and fruit. Now how long? 7 to 10 days are the average for most cleanse. You could use this as a starting point to change your diet to more of a raw diet. Because of the IBS you have I would limit your meat consumption to only once and awhile. Stay away from breads and dairy. You may have found dairy with your IBS sometimes does not mix well. You will need to really pay attention after your cleanse to what foods might set you off. Start with simple easy to digest foods. Allot of time start eating jello, soup, and little crackers. These way when you reintroduce foods back into your system your not overloading your cleaned out system. Have you tried taking probotics? These help replace the good bacteria in your stomach. Yogurt is a good source of bacteria.

      Salivary Glands

      Three pairs of major salivary glands (parotid, submandibular, and sublingual glands) and numerous smaller ones secrete saliva into the oral cavity, where it is mixed with food during mastication. Saliva contains water, mucus, and enzyme amylase. Functions of saliva include the following:

      It has a cleansing action on the teeth.
      It moistens and lubricates food during mastication and swallowing.
      It dissolves certain molecules so that food can be tasted.
      It begins the chemical digestion of starches through the action of amylase, which breaks down polysaccharides into disaccharides.
      Liver

      The liver is located primarily in the right hypochondriac and epigastric regions of the abdomen, just beneath the diaphragm. It is the largest gland in the body. On the surface, the liver is divided into two major lobes and two smaller lobes. The functional units of the liver are lobules with sinusoids that carry blood from the periphery to the central vein of the lobule.

      Gallbladder

      The gallbladder is a pear-shaped sac that is attached to the visceral surface of the liver by the cystic duct. The principal function of the gallbladder is to serve as a storage reservoir for bile. Bile is a yellowish-green fluid produced by liver cells. The main components of bile are water, bile salts, bile pigments, and cholesterol.

      Bile salts act as emulsifying agents in the digestion and absorption of fats. Cholesterol and bile pigments from the breakdown of hemoglobin are excreted from the body in the bile.

      Pancreas

      The pancreas has both endocrine and exocrine functions. The endocrine portion consists of the scattered islets of Langerhans, which secrete the hormones insulin and glucagon into the blood. The exocrine portion is the major part of the gland. It consists of pancreatic acinar cells that secrete digestive enzymes into tiny ducts interwoven between the cells. Pancreatic enzymes include anylase, trypsin, peptidase, and lipase. Pancreatic secretions are controlled by the hormones secretin and cholecystokinin.

    I will be trying out a ~10 day juice fast (Sambu Elderberry Deep Cleanse) from what i have read the digestive system is very sensitive after fasting. At what point is the digestive system "strong" enough to consume alcohol? This fast is not pure juice it includes fiber and a liquid vitamin, as well as birch-juniper extract pills.

      I've done many fasts throughout the years...start off with broth and plain food like a banana, some plain rice...think of it like you would after having an illness. Like feeding a baby. As far as alcohol,it depends on what you have in mind. Moderate like a glass or two of wine, would be fine after eating some of those foods, that way you'll have something in your system. Take it easy.

      just do a plain non fat yogurt and water for a couple days thats wat i do to cleanse when i am not feeling too good or need to drop a couple pounds but i dont know how good it cleans the digestive track

      Fasting and cleansing have the same effect on the body. Our bodies were designed to eat every day. Fasting will result in loss of nutrients and will compromise the immune system.

      Add more fiber to your diet. You don't need laxatives or anything like that. Add psyllium fiber to a beverage and it will make a big difference. Also, eat plenty of veggies, whole grains and fruit.

      i once didnt eat for two days.
      and all i drank was water.
      it helped.
      but if your planning on drinking a lot of water, make sure you dont eat sugary or salty foods because that retains water.

    I am too lazy to change my diet, so I'd like to know if there are any specific antifungals/probiotic supplements that work pretty well to destroy an intestinal yeast infection...?

    I REALLY need help on this as I am faced with a serious health problem that may or may not be Candida overgrowth, but without medical insurance, I can't get extensive testing done to figure out what condition I really have.     I've heard that hot water cleanses and aids your digestive system - surely something we all want.
    But another thing we all want is to burn more calories - and I've also heard that we burn calories by heating the cold water once it's in our bodies.
    Are either of these "Facts" true? Or is one more beneficial than the other?
    I'm currently on a lose-weight plan, and although this hot/cold water argument isn't going to rid me of those extra kilograms, I'd like to know which is going to be more beneficial to me.

      Where is the proof hot water cleanses your digestive system? I personally think that is rubbish; you need an element of bacteria in your gut to aid digestion. Besides, hot water only cleanses bad bacteria at 60 - 65ºC - try drinking water that hot and you will be in hospital.

      Conversely, drinking cold water when you are very hot after exercise can cause stomach chills and that isn't great.

      Drinking water does not help burn calories. As a fuel, it contains practically nil calories and it is the muscles with certain minerals and enzymes that burn food into energy. Water is needed to hydrate the body, NOT to burn calories into energy.

      When people are trying to lose weight, they drink a lot of water because it causes a sensation of being 'full'.

      I suggest continuing to ingest plenty of fiber, and some multivitamins to make up for the lost nutrients and iron. Yogurt contains bacteria that helps to cleanse the digestive track, especially Activia (also a source of fiber) Remember you can easily become anemic if you don't supplement your iron and other minerals/vitamins. It's good to be healthy but be sure to research proper substitutes and recipes! Good luck. :)

      Flushing, purging, detoxing, etc. are bad ideas and won't serve any useful purpose. You have, apparently, fallen victim to some really bad information. If you are having negative symptoms due to dieting, you're not dieting correctly and you probably have had a big dose of bad diet information too. You can use the links below for good information and learn all you need to know about dieting, burning fat, etc.

      Detox diets, cleanses, and supplements don't work. There is no diet which will cause your body to get rid of toxins, heavy metals, poisonous by-products from smoking, drugs, etc. And cleanses for the purpose of weight loss don't work because they can only eliminate water and small amounts of waste which the body will replace very quickly.

      Your body cleanses itself naturally. And cleanses, purges, emetics, enemas, etc. cannot remove fat from your body or make your body lose fat and/or toxins. If fat is your problem, you're eventually going to realize that nothing works except a proper diet for life or surgery. The best diet for all normal adults hasn’t changed. It is still a varied, balanced, nutritious, and properly apportioned diet of high quality foods.

    How do you get rid of an internal Candida overgrowth ?
    I never feel ok with my digestive system and always have to avoid certain food that would be harmless to everyone else because it causes me pain or heartburn. I also experience ups and downs with allergies and asthma.     Half way through a 21 Day cleanse, I have developed lactose intolerance. It developed rapidly over days 11-13 by the time I realized that each of my excruciating stomach aches (and gas, bloating, etc.) was preceded by a dairy product.

    My question is, is this a coincidence? Lactose intolerance does run in my family (2 sisters suffer from it). Or, is this indeed caused by the cleanse, and if so will it only be temporary?
