Planning A Weight Loss Program

Attitude: In order to succeed with your weight loss goals it is important to go into this program without thinking you are on a diet. What you need to do is change your behaviour and habits. This does not mean that you need to ever feel hungry or turn yourself into an Olympic athlete in order to achieve your weight loss goal. If you fall off the wagon get back on, you havent lost the war.

Exercise: If you are more than 20 pounds overweight then you should start off with moderate daily exercise e.g. walking or swimming to assist with your weight loss. Always consult your doctor before embarking on any exercise regime.

If you are moderately overweight then a minimum of 40 minutes per day is preferable to achieve weight loss. If aged over 40 then it helps to try and do 2 sessions per day e.g. aerobic workout in the morning and walking or cycling for 30 minutes or more in the evening. I found that my metabolism slowed down considerably when I reached 40 so fitting in two sessions a day really helped my weight loss efforts.

Getting Organized: This lifestyle change will take a certain amount of effort and forward planning on your part. Think about what you do throughout the day that you could change i.e. do you sit at your desk at lunchtime reading the newspaper? Do you watch television for several hours in the evening? Could you set your alarm for 30 minutes earlier in the morning? This extra time can be used for exercise and the time needed to prepare your meals in advance if you need to take them to work .

Make lists for shopping, dont just hit the supermarket with a vague idea of what you will need for your weight loss goal. Cook in bulk and freeze the rest in small portions.

Things to Avoid: As a general rule stick to the outer aisles in the supermarket where the fresh produce is displayed. Avoid the aisles with packaged and processed foods. It goes without saying to avoid sugar and sugar related products (try fruit instead).

If in doubt just cut out the white stuff, sugar, white bread, white rice, potatoes etc. Dairy products can be very high in fat so try the reduced fat variety. I personally find this tastes better than the no fat variety and is more satisfying so you arent looking for more in another half an hour.

Alcohol is also best avoided as this is normally quite high in calories and can lead to dehydration.

Quantities: Try and keep the quantities down to between 200-300 calories per meal, slightly more for men or if you are very active.

Frequency: Eat these small meals 5 times a day, approximately every 3 hours. Do not skip a meal and try not to eat after 7pm in the evening. The frequency of meals will stop you from feeling hungry and ease you toward your weight loss goal.

Dehydration: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, at least 8 glasses . Dont wait until you are thirsty as this means that you are dehydrated. This will help to keep your energy levels up and also eliminate toxins which can make you feel sluggish and tired.

Tricking your Metabolism: Eat 5 small meals of around 200-300 calories for 3 days then on the fourth day increase your calorie intake slightly for each meal . This will stop your body going into starvation mode and lowering your metabolism to suit the reduced intake.

Buddy: Why not get a friend or partner to join you on your new health and weight loss regime. This makes exercise more fun and helps you stay on target.

Attitude: I repeat this step as it's key to the success of your program. Continue to work towards a goal taking small steps if necessary. Many people have done this, you can too.

By using these tips you should achieve gradual and healthy weight loss without feeling deprived or hungry.

Safe Weight Loss Plans

Although you may crave instant weight loss, plans where you drastically reduce the amount you eat or the amount you exercise are actually forms or beginners anorexia which can be quite dangerous to your body and your future. This is because your body is not made to shed pounds dramatically and the result of this can actually be harmful to the normal function of your organs.

Fruit and vegetables that contain a lot of water not only fill us up and help keep our body hydrated, when combined with our daily water consumption they are an excellent aid to fast weight loss. Examples of high water content fruit and vegetable include cabbage, watercress, lettuce, kale, cucumber, courgettes, spinach, broccoli, tomato, watermelon, cantaloupe, oranges, grapefruit, pineapple, plums, nectarines, and berry fruits such as strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.

The main point you need to appreciate is that it takes regular physical exercise in order to lose weight permanently. The best way to burn calories is by performing aerobic workouts, which may be jogging, riding a bike, swimming or any other sports you like such as tennis, ping-pong or badminton. You can also attend dance or aerobic classes in the fitness center. The principal point is that in order to lose weight fast, you need to decrease your calories intake and get more exercise to enable you body to burn excess calories.

Tracking the food you're eating actually helps. You'll be aware of how much calories you are gaining. Mark on a healthy eating timetable by consuming only 1500-2000 calories daily and also eating every 3-4 hours in smaller pieces.

It will also inform your metabolism to burn muscle rather than fat which will increase your appetite to almost unbearable levels and thus causing an end to your diet. Once you go back to a regular eating routine you will find you gain weight quicker as your metabolism will still be working at a lower rate.

Dieting should not mean that you are restricting the calorie intake. This is in fact, the worst method of weight loss and might act otherwise i.e., you start gaining extra fat.

A great choice is usually to carry a packed lunch each day instead. This can save you cash and in reality doesn't require a great deal time to make in the morning. Purchase a nutritious lunch meat and low- fat cheese combination that you enjoy, or get hold of ready- to- go salad that you'll bring with you to work.

Healthy Diet Meals For Weight Loss

It is not difficult to spot overweight people these days. There is an alarming increase in the number of obese children as well. regardless of where people live, their diet, etc., weight can pile on very quickly and a need for healthy weight loss is certainly needed. If you are in this category, there is a better than strong chance that you can rid the fat for a healthier lifestyle. Health weight loss is important, however. Just remember, though the course to better health is long and arduous, it will be a lot less expensive and much easier on you then say diabetes.

It seems there is a new guru coming out with his or hers quick fat loss program or pill. Heck, the FDA has gotten behind in their pursuit of unhealthy products. This is said not as a deterrent, but as a waning all should have when making the decision to lose weight.

Your first course of action is certainly to consult your physician and a dietician before pursuing any diet. With that said, your best results will come from a natural weight loss program. Allowing your body to adapt to a healthier diet than simply taking some supplements. The draw-back to a natural weight loss program is typically the length. It does take more time, preparation and focus, but maybe that is what we all need.

Surgeries, popping pills, fat loss drink shakes nor surgery are typically not part of a healthy weight loss program. Instead, this type of program focuses on natural, holistic approaches, including sensible diet plans, exercise, etc. This is not to day that quick fat loss cannot be achieved, but it should not be expected. Sensible eating, again, is the key, which includes increasing your intake of healthier foods, such as vegetables and fruits. While this is not a new approach, it is usually overlooked.

In this day and age of fast food and fast cars, we just assume a fast diet should do the trick. Outside of being severely obese where drastic measures would need to be taken, this type of diet is almost fool-proof, if you stick to the plan.

Easy Raw Food Recipe

Chicken Enchiladas Recipe

Chicken Enchiladas Recipe
  • Serves: 8 - 10
  • Prep Time: 30 - 45 min.
  • Total Time: 2+ hours

Note: If you prepare the entire recipe, you will need 2 casserole dishes


  • 3-4 Chicken Breasts (boiled and shredded)
  • Flour Tortillas
  • 1 Lg. Can Green Enchilada Sauce (28 oz)
  • 1 pkg. Cream Cheese (8 oz)
  • 1 Can Black Beans
  • 2 Cups Rice (cooked)
  • 2 - 3 Cups shredded Colby & Monterey Jack Cheeses


Cook the Chicken Breasts ~ I boil my chicken breasts for 1 hr., allow to cool and then tear into pieces.

Cook 2 Cups Rice

In a large mixing bowl, Mix the Cream Cheese with 2 Cups of the Green Enchilada Sauce (I use a mixer for a creamer texture)

Stir the shredded chicken into the cream cheese mixture.

Drain & rinse black beans

Pour and spread 1/2 cup Enchilada Sauce into the bottom of each baking dish. (approx. 9 x 13)

Assemble enchiladas: Layer Tortilla, approx. 2 tablespoons rice, approx. 1 teaspoon black beans, then chicken mixture. (adjust this to your own personal tastes and preference)

Roll up the tortillas and place them seam side down in the prepared baking dishes.

After all of the tortillas are rolled and placed in the baking dishes, top with remaining Enchilada Sauce.

Top with 2 - 3 cups shredded Colby & Monterey Jack Cheeses

Cover and bake for 25 min. on 375

Uncover the enchiladas and broil for 4-5 minutes until the cheese topping is browned.

The Need To Pee

Cats are one of the most beloved pets. They are beautiful, usually quiet, groom themselves, and are generally low-maintenance, as opposed to dogs. Cats even 'take themselves' to the bathroom, unlike dogs which need to be let out regularly. One unpleasant reality of owning a cat, however, is the potential for cat pee odor.

Cats are also pretty easy to litter train. However, sometimes they still urinate elsewhere. Some male cats and even female cats which aren't neutered or spayed may 'spray,' which is even worse than regular cat pee odor.

Here are some tips on how to prevent cat pee odors, as well as how to remove pet odors:

- The best treatment for most odors is preventing them. Make sure your cat(s) always have a fresh, clean litter box. Cats are finicky creatures, and if their box isn't up to their standards, they'll go elsewhere, then you will have a really bad odor problem on your hands.

- If your cat hasn't been neutered or spayed, consider it. This will probably prevent (or solve) any spraying problems you may have.

- Once your cat has urinated outside the litter box, clean it up immediately. If you don't, they will just do it again. As long as they can smell the urine, they will think that is an approved alternate to the litter box.

- Cat pee odor removal can be very difficult. There are a lot of suggestions on how to remove pet odors. Natural home remedies such as vinegar, baking soda and peroxide are said to work at eliminating the odor, but they may not do a thorough job.

-Learn how to remove pet odors without causing any harm to yourself or your pets. Sometimes fumes or residue from certain cleaners are caustic, perhaps not to you, but to your more sensitive feline. Read warning labels carefully. Some chemicals just weren't meant to be used on carpet, a common problem area for cat pee odor removal. They may contain bleaching agents that will discolor your carpet or damage the fibers. Again, read labels and proceed with extreme caution, always testing an inconspicuous area first.

- Cat pee odor removal can be difficult because of the crystals in cat urine. When the urine dries, crystals remain, and when they are rubbed while cleaning, often settle deeper into carpet and other surfaces. The crystals need to be broken down and removed to keep the odor from returning.

What Is Dental Disease

Periodontal disease, or gum disease, can definitely take its toll on a person s gums. It does, however, have a progression that may not be noticed until it is too late. Many individuals make the mistake of thinking they don t have periodontal disease because they don t feel any pain. That is certainly a myth. Some people experience receding gum lines and other gum issues without ever feeling a thing. That is why it is important to know what you need to look for.

Healthy gums

You have to know what healthy gums look like in order to know whether or not something is wrong. As stated before, you don t have to feel pain or discomfort to have periodontal disease. It can do the damage long before you notice, so knowing that healthy gums are to be a pink or pink coral color, have the texture of an orange peel, and contours the teeth is a great start. There should be no bleeding during daily oral hygiene and no discomfort.

Even if your gums are healthy, you can use preventive measures such as brushing at least twice daily, flossing daily, and using a fluoride mouthwash. You can also use additional products such as Nature s Smile, which is an oral balm made with natural ingredients that are used on the gums to prevent and treat gum disease in both adults and children.

When you know what healthy gums are supposed to look like, the transition from healthy gums to unhealthy gums can be a bit more noticeable. You ll notice that the gums are redder than normal or swollen. They may not be painful yet, but they will become painful if the condition is allowed to progress. Before you know it, you could be experiencing a receding gum line around one or more of your teeth, your gums are very tender, and they bleed. This can lead to such situations as temperature sensitivity and later result in tooth loss.

Even if gum disease has just begun, it is important to do something about it before it gets any worse. You do not have to resolve yourself to just dealing with it. No one has to set back and let it take its toll. There is no reason to subject yourself to that type of pain. The idea is to relieve it before it can get any worse. That way you don t have to deal with such issues as bleeding of the gums, temperature sensitivity, or tooth loss. This can make eating meals difficult and, believe it or not, having healthy teeth and gums is vital to ensuring proper nutrition. If you can t eat certain foods because your gums hurt, then you are not going to be able to eat the foods you need.

What to do

Again, you want to brush at least twice each day, floss daily, and use a fluoride mouthwash. In addition, use an oral balm such as Nature s Smile to both prevent and treat periodontal disease. It never hurts to use something extra, especially if it is going to be helpful and healthy.

How To Treat Infections At Home
