Colon Cleanse Safe

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best colon cleanse, and are they safe?
Hello, I have been wanting to try a colon cleanse. I need someone who knows or who has used one to tell me a few things:
is it ok to use one at my age of 15,
    will it be painful,
will I be spending the majority of my days on the toilet,
    are they safe,
and which one would you personally recommend?
I don't want to get in over my head here.

    • ANSWER:
Before you do a colon cleanse, make sure it is o.k. with your parents. It is not painful and is safe. If you go to your local health store and ask for an all natural colon cleanse, they can help you. Wait after you have eaten dinner for at least two hours before you take a pill. It is not like a laxative. If you don't have a health store close, you can go to this site a friend gave me.

Need advise on an effective colon cleanse thats safe and cheap?
Im constantly bloated latley, stressed out, not going everyday. I think I need a good colon cleanse, and something to remove the waste weight.

Any sugguestions on products or foods.. I am on a tight budget.

    • ANSWER:
If all you think you need is to take a good poop, then eat a lot of natural natural fiber in the form of raw vegetables.

Now, if you think need a colon cleanse, then you need to go to the doctor and get a colonic. "Safe" and "Cheap" are two terms that do not go together when discussing medical procedures. Also, no magic food or drink is going to roto-rooter your bowels.

How often should you do colon cleansing and is it really safe?
When doing a colon cleansing should you go to a facility that specializes in colon cleaning or is it safe to use natural herbs from a herb shop.

    • ANSWER:
Unless you have a colon problem you probably shouldn't do anything to "cleanse" the colon. If you do have colon problems then you need to consult a physician.

What is the best colon cleanse out there?
What's the best colon cleanse, liver cleanse, gallbladder cleanse, kidney cleanse, Candida cleanse lung cleanse? Is there a all in 1 type cleanse? Is it safe to do all these cleanses after one another?

    • ANSWER:
      Colon Clenz pills.
Go to Hulda Clark's GB/Liver cleanse page. Google it.
All Candida cleanses are good. Try a Chinese one.
You can do all at the same time.

What are the "safe" foods to eat during the Master's Colon Cleanse?
I heard that there are "safe" foods that you can eat while on the Masters Colon Cleanse to help you over come the snacking....Can anyone tell me which ones they are?

    • ANSWER:
Usually vegetables and broths are recommended.

You can keep your normal diet but think about it this way...if you eat foods high in fat and preservatives, that basically "pollutes" your body so I would stick to natural foods...organic if possible.

Colon cleansers are not unsafe IF you do them properly and do not abuse them.Don't post replies in the alternative health section if you are IGNORANT on the subject.

Does a colon cleanse and fasting actually have health benefits?
I am thinking of taking a trip to a Thai spa and having a colon cleanse. Not the silly fifty pound health juices, I want to do the whole kit kaboodle. If it works.
It says that the colon is the 'root of all disease'. I seriously doubt this, but then again I'm not a health professional.

So: does the colon cleanse actually work with health benefits? And does the whole fasting - raw - food jam work?

I'm centring on the colon bit - I know some people say it's rubbish, but is there any sorta scientific proof?

    • ANSWER:
If you use colon cleansing kits whose products are made up of chemicals and herbally based products they may not be safe and may cause more harm then good.

When it comes to natural colon cleansing products, the government doesn’t regulate it so essentially their safety, purity, and potency cannot be guaranteed. And, each state has its own rules about whether or not practitioners must be professionally licensed. So really it’s a risk you take when you start a new pill. There may be side effects or there may be nothing depending on what you are taking.

In my opinion the best colon cleansing and safest colon cleansing 'kit' would be by naturally improving your lifestyle starting with nutrition.

A colon cleansing diet would consist of fruits, vegetables, berries, clean meats, oils, nuts, seeds, beans, legumes, and whole grains. I’m a vegetarian myself so I obviously don’t include meat in my diet and neither would any other vegetarian. But for the most part you want to design a diet around those foods.

I do believe that disease starts from the colon or the digestive system. Proper nutrition is important and our digestive system does a lot of work for us - so when it is having problems it only goes to say the rest of our body will be having problems.

What is the best colon cleansing product you've tried?
Just looking to do a consensus as I'm planning to do a colon cleanse soon. Colon Blow (lol) sounds pretty good, but does it live up to the hype?

    • ANSWER:
One of the most reliable and safest colon cleanse is Bromalite. It is effective to it's core and helps your body get rid of any parasitic presence inside the colon and at the same time relieve the users from stress.

It is a perfect colon cleanse which has a natural composition which has probiotic and antioxidants to create a feeling of wellness. It helps reduce fats and help to discard the harmful deposits from our body without any side effects. http://p.gs/csupy

Is there an inexpensive home remedy for colon cleansing?
I've been doing a little research on those colon cleansing kits and they seem like the way to go for a healthier system. I work out regularily & have begun eating better. These kits are believed to eliminate toxicity and waste from the body, reduce stress from our vital organs (liver, colon, kidneys, blood, skin, etc.) and support the rejuvenation of the immune system. This all sounds great, B U T.....EXPENSIVE!! I just wondered if anyone knew any safe home remedies that might work as well?

    • ANSWER:
Psyllium hulls in powder form that you mix with water 2 to 3 times per day, drink lots of water, eath lot of fiber and raw vegetables, take acidophilous. this would be a good minimum to start. After about 2 weeks you can reduce psyllium to teice daily and discontinue the acidophilous.

You may wish to do a juice fast for the first day or two if you have a juicer and can access fresh vegetable juice, not v8 or sugary fruit juices.

This is not the most complete or exhaustive cleanse but it is a good basic start and the psylliun, water, fiber, vegetables part of it can be maintained for life. In the long run cunsistent healthy practices win out over occasional extremes anyway.

Does anyone know of any safe Colon cleansing supplements?
Not something that is going to have me on the toliet all day either, lol. Just something that can help me clean all the junk out of my system in a normal and safe pace. And is colon cleansing good? Does it help you lose weight?

    • ANSWER:
Colon cleansing does not really provide any benefit. Contrary to popular belief, the inside of the colon -- the end of the large intestine -- isn't dirty and does not need to be cleaned out. Mother Nature does that on her own by making sure that waste passes through and out of your body, taking impurities with it. Colon cleansing is just like having an enema, of which there is no medical reason to perform this, unless you have stubborn constipation and for preparing the colon for a test or for surgery. If you want to flush out impurities from your body, have another glass of water instead.

How can I do a colon cleansing though supplements?
I was wondering, is there a safe supplement I can take to do a home colon cleansing that I can get from GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, etc (or a local health store in Orange County, CA)? I don't want to order any product over the internet. Also, how long does it usually take to work? Can I do it all in one day? Because I am on meds that I have to take everyday, and I'm sure it would flush the meds out of my system, but if I could do it in the morning anad take my meds by night it should be fine. I don't want to have a colon irrigation procedure, so I'm looking for a safe home alternative. Thanks!!

    • ANSWER:
BEST ONE: Women's Renew available at Super Supplements. It is very affordable! It's a three pill process that is actually very "light" on your body - no diarrhea and no cramping. It's specifically formulated for women (there is also one for men). It takes two weeks to complete one program, however you can extend it to a month. If you are using this as a dietary supplement, make sure you are eating healthy and try to get at least a walk in every day - trust me, it helps!

Some tips with any intestenal cleansing:

If you are on medications, take them 30 minutes prior to taking the Women's Renew - this gives your body the time to absorb the medication correctly.

Drink LOTS of water!! Believe it or not, more water helps you go easier! :) Good tip for constipation, too.

Include a supplement called "Jarro-Dopholius" - it's good bacteria that would otherwise be completely wiped out of your ssytem, and you do need some of it.

What works better a colon cleanse (pills) or colon hydrotherapy?
I just wanted to know if a colon cleanse dose as a good job as a colon hydrotherapy? Does the hydrotherapy romove more stuff?

    • ANSWER:
It depends on what you're trying to do it for. If you're just trying to clean out the bad stuff and help regularity, then colon cleanses are best, although the powders are usually easier so you aren't swallowing a dozen pills at a time. Colon cleanses are typically mostly fiber and herbs that encourage regularity, so they are very beneficial and safe.
If you are doing it for a colonoscopy or something where your colon needs to be REALLY clean, then hydrotherapy is the only option.

If you're wondering which is safer, that would be the colon cleanser. There are some things that should be in your colon (specifically probiotics) that an enema would wash out which could be detrimental to long-term regularity. In other words, an enema is only a short-term help and will make you more constipated if you use them too often. Fiber products would work with your body's chemistry to keep things moving normally. Good luck and I hope I helped!

Do colon cleansing products really work?
I have seen so many advertisements for colon cleansing products but are they really as effective and safe as they say?

    • ANSWER:
Yes! Is the short answer :)
Colon cleansing products do work - and some are so safe you can use them at least twice a month. Good colon health can be the difference between having a lazy, sluggish day - or a energy-filled day.

A couple weeks ago I was looking into a colon cleansing product because my energy level was just super low and it was depressing.

      I found this site: http://www.coloncleanse.net/
They have a lot of good info -

Like this article helped me out a lot:

It's about detoxification and why colon health is so important.

Colon cleansing worked for me... I used the brand Core Cleanse. I got my energy back, and I even lost a few pounds! Drink lots of water and keep your colon clean!!

    • ANSWER:
The acai berry really isn't meant to be a colon cleanser. It's just a food high in vitamins and anti-oxidants.

A colon cleanser will get rid of about 2-3 lbs of waste/parasite buildup immediately. The rest of the weight loss comes from the health benefits of getting rid of that waste. Your body absorbs more nutrients and vitamins and your energy is increased. There's a nice article on it over at http://www.thehealthfitnessblog.com/general-health-and-fitness/dual-action-colon-cleanse

I am wanting to do a colon cleanse, but they kinda scare me. Even when they safe it's all natural, I am a little skeptical.. Just because it's natural doesn't make it safe. Sherry, colon cleansers, colonic irrigation's and enemas will help you lose weight, but it's only a very short term loss.

How safe is it to use the product?
My older sister does colon cleanses and she tells me its the best way to lose weight, I see adds for it and get answers to some of my questions about colon cleansing products, is this a safe way to go?

    • ANSWER:
Colon cleansing is actually BAD for you. Your body naturally cleans it self out and using "colon cleanse" products actually put stress on the body. There aren't any toxins in your colon; that's all a bunch of bull.

Looking for a good colon cleansing product?
I had abdominal surgery six months ago and have had a few bouts with partial bowel obstructions. I've been able to work through them at home but I want to make sure I don't have to fight with this. There are many colon cleansing products out there and wondering what has worked. I'm trying Oxy Powder right now but not sure I'm having good results.

    • ANSWER:
Surely your surgeon gave you some sound direction for after the surgery.
Eating high fiber fresh foods is the best and only safe colon cleanser. Your colon stays clean with a healthy high fiber diet. It doesn't need cleansing.
The best way to clean your system is to stop putting toxins in. The largest source is our modern diet of processed and refined foods loaded with preservatives, additives, and concentrates. These throw off the normal functions of the entire body.
The best way to "cleanse and detox" is to reduce transit time - the amount of time it takes for food to exit the body. The average adult has a transit time of 50-60 hours. So something they ate for breakfast two days ago is still in their system. Yuck!
This leads to a condition called auto toxicity where the digestive system is working slow enough for toxins to be reabsorbed through the large intestine.
A high fiber diet can cut transit time to 24-30 hours. Search high fiber foods and focus on eating lots of those.

Where will my liver gallstones come out of when i do a liver cleanse?
I have done a colon cleanse, currently on a parasite kill, then i will jump to a liver cleanse by Dr. Hulda Clark Ph.D., N.D.
I have heard that it hurts when guys urine gallstones, can liver stones be eliminated by the urine or by stole?

    • ANSWER:
No, you cannot flush gallstones at all. Those are ingredients for a salad dressing.

If it were that easy, don't you believe that American insurance companies would force patients to use that inexpensive cure instead of going through costly medical surgery? Guess what: there are no peer-reviewed medical studies to show the efficacy of gallstone flushing. It doesn't work!

Cholecystectomy and ERCP are the only cures for gallstones. They are relatively safe and effective where called for. Some people can survive their entire lives with gallstones. It all depends upon your individual situation and diet.

See a real medical professional for proper advice.

I am a survivor of many medical procedures, including cholecycstectomy (gallbladder removal) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography or ERCP for short.

Is oxy-powder colon cleanse safe during nursing?

I would appreciate you sharing some knowledge on the subject!

Not sure what you mean by oxy-powder, but I know that most colon cleansing pills are not recommended for pregnant or nursing women.

There are no magical berries from Brazil, it's a hyped up scam.
There are more antioxidants in blueberries, black cherries and /concord grapes.
Antioxidants will not aid weight loss.

Oprah Winfrey, Mehmet Oz, and Rachael Ray have all publicly disassociated themselves from the açai sites that make unauthorized use their names.
The diet 'bloggers' are just a mirage, their weight loss is courtesy of Photoshop, not açai.

What is the best weight loss supplement for someone who has trouble losing weight?
I have tried acai berry and colon cleanse combination, hydroxycut, lipozene, metabolife. And while i was on these i either did a 1000 calorie a day diet or weight watchers. I want a fat burner that actually stays true to the title as a fat burner. Im the biggest i have ever been and i need extreme work done

    • ANSWER:
You have tried every unapproved diet pill available at the grocery. Weight loss supplements are called "supplements" because they are not proven drugs. Under a bad law passed in 1994 diet pills, protein powders, oils, even soaps can claim they cause weight loss as long as people don't report injury or harm. So we don't find out until injury has occurred before we know if they are safe or not. Quite a big difference from an approved drug that is extensively tested.
80% of weight loss is diet.
You can eat a healthy diet and lose weight.
You can eat a healthy diet and exercise and lose more weight.
You can exercise and eat a poor diet and not lose and even gain weight.
A good healthy diet high in fiber, lean meats, eggs, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, antioxidant foods, healthy beverages and low in added sugar and salt help people lose weight, lower cholesterol, increase energy, improve brain function, lower blood pressure, reduce cancer risk and have a more positive lifestyle!
You need to eat a lot more food and a lot more fiber!
Diets that exclude foods from any food group are fad diets and do not lead to permanent weight loss or solve any other health issues.
First, try to kick your fiber intake to 40 grams of both soluble and insoluble fiber.
Whatever you do, get your fiber from your food, not from a jar.
Fruits and vegetables have good fiber in them. A high fiber diet increases the metabolism.
Try a breakfast cereal with at least 20% of recommended daily allowance of fiber in it. They are usually low in sugar so there is a double benefit. Blueberries or raspberries on top add more fiber and antioxidants. But fresh or frozen, not the kind in syrup.
Raw nuts are a great source of fiber, healthy fats, and antioxidants. Avocados are the best.
Lots of beans, peas, and grains are high fiber. Whole grain breads. Fiber kicks up the metabolism so you actually burn more calories. These foods will give you more gas in the beginning but if eaten daily, the bacteria in the digestive tract will elevate lowering the gas output.
This will get you on the path for a healthy daily bowel movement. This helps clean the system and aids healthy digestion.
I know it goes against everything you've heard but eating lots of the right foods will actually help you lose weight!
Next, take an age appropriate basic daily multivitamin. Don't look at your multivitamin as nutrition but more as an insurance policy. Think of it as filling in the gaps in your daily diet as opposed to a primary source of nutrients.
You have to drink lots of water to be healthy. But you can disguise it. Fill your glass all the way full with ice before pouring low sugar beverages. Try iced green tea with a splash of orange juice in it for sweet. More antioxidants. Add lemon juice to water for flavor. Slice up a cucumber and float it in pitcher of water. Gives it salty fresh taste. But you must drink up to 100 oz of water daily to help your body get rid of waste and the natural toxins.
Last, you need to get 7-10 hours of quality sleep depending on your age. All recent sleep studies report a connection between poor sleep and weight gain.
You must combine a healthy diet with exercise to multiply the benefit. Whether an hour a day in the weight room or just a 30 minute brisk walk every day, the added benefit of a regular exercise program really do increase and accelerate healthy weight loss.

I lost 30 pounds in 5 months by spending my money at the grocery and gym and have kept it off for two years now. 3% of people that attempt weight loss lose it and keep it off for two years. It is not easy. It is a lifestyle change.
      Good luck and good health.

Should I do a 7-day detox pill plan, or should I take a colon cleanse pill everyday?
I'm looking into doing detox, but I'm not sure which is more effective, the 7-day detox pills or the daily colon cleanse pill. If I do the 7-day detox pills, how often should I do it, twice a month, once a month? If I do the colon cleanser pill, is it safe to take it everyday, every other day, once a week?

    • ANSWER:
Detox is *not* necessary. Really. Medically speaking there is no evidence that human beings need to exogenously 'detox' the colon , liver, etcetera. These detox's are designed to make money. I am not here to burst your bubble, but really, they are NOT necessary.

The human body is more than capable of cleaning itself and does so constantly. Detoxing more likely to 'disrupt' this natural process than aid it.

Given the above 'truth' -- I recommend you use the shortest, least invasive ... non stimulant detox available in your options.

Further, don't use it more than once. If you feel you need to 'detox' yourself with some regularity -- Do it once a year, really -- Doing this sort of thing once a month or more is not healthy for the body.

You will see a mass of 'stuff' come out during a colon detox,.. but this is not stored "excess" fecal matter that otherwise would not have come out. There is nothing pills or powders/drinks etc can do or 'get to' that your body wouldn't already expel. Think about it. Further, do some scientific research for medical studies proving any of it is beneficial.

Again, I have to recommend the shortest course available, and simply follow the directions on the packaging.

The Natrol Acaii Berry Weekend Cleanse is something I would recommend to someone who is adamant on 'detoxing'. This is designed to be effective, designed for the 'weekend' because detoxes require you to be on the toilet more than normal, thus it won't interfere with your work week. Further it is relatively short, I believe handles both the bowels/colon and liver -- as well as replenishing some pro-biotics (IE: Your healthy intestinal fauna/bacteria) and so forth.

      Good luck,

I know that cleaning out your bowels is a great way to slim. Are laxatives safe to do so?
I know they sell a lot of colon cleanse items.. but laxatives are way cheaper... i don't know how the colon cleanse things work so please excuse my ignorance but as long as im emptying my bowels wouldn't laxatives work just the same? and how safe are they?

    • ANSWER:
Laxatives help you by excreting the contents of your body in a timely fashion. While you might lose a few pounds initially, it is just water weight which you will eventually gain back. Plus, you could become dehydrated.

If you feel like thinking longterm read the article below on using blackstrap molasses and psyllium husks to do a really good job of purifying your body.

Can enemas be physically addicting like laxatives?
With all the talk about colon cleansing and colonics, I was wondering how safe it was to use an enema. I would like to go for a colonic, but no one offers it in my area.
I've heard of coffee enemas and my sister swears by them, but I was told Castile soap was the purest thing you could use and the most effective.

    • ANSWER:
Enemas are fine. Use them only when you are doing a cleanse. I recommend coffee enemas. Yes! Coffee! It will stimulate the liver to detox.

Always take probiotics when doing enemas or colonics.

Do over the counter herbal colon cleanse pills work and are they safe ?
I suffer from terrible bloating after I eat and gas. I feel like I have gained ten pounds. Gas pills do nothing. I am thinking of trying an over the countr herbal colon cleanse. Do they work? Can anyone recommend one? Are they safe? Do they have side effects?

    • ANSWER:
Your body naturally removes all toxins, and those that it cannot remove are not stored in the colon so giving yourself horrible diarrhea for a few days will not help at all. The product is largely safe, except if you don't keep drinking water you'll become severely dehydrated.

These diet colon cleansing remedies have been touted online but I want to know if anyone has actually used these successfully (your own experience) or not. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
I have a weight loss idea for you that helped me lose about 20 pounds in 3 months. However, first I want to warn you that the internet is filled with acai berry SCAMS.

This is based on my own personal experience. One online scam is Acai Berry Supreme. They promised a free bottle and I would only have to pay shipping. I noticed an additional .95 added to my credit card from that company and had to complain to the company to get a refund.

Another scam is Acai Berry Power 500, which also offered a free trial bottle. They then started mailing me additional bottles of acai without my permission. Again, I had to complain to the company to get credit card charges removed.

Your best bet is to go to a health food or vitamin store and buy acai directly. Sambazon is probably the best company to buy from. If you can’t get acai directly, you should be safe to buy it from sambazon.com.

What did help me lose 20 pounds in 3 months is an old home remedy that might sound strange to you. Put 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar (ACV) and 1 tablespoon of honey in 8 ounces of warm water and drink this mixture. Do this twice a day. Use Bragg's ACV or other brands from a health food store, not stuff you buy in a regular grocery store. I can't offer you any guarantee, but ACV did work for me.

What is the best colon cleanse tea and best body detox tea or if you know of something better than teas.?
A safe and effective way that is clinically proven. No yogi tea answers ingredients are not proven to do anything to the liver. Only answers frm people that know their stuff!
Clearly you don't and please don't waste your time responding to questions with your ignorant opinions.

    • ANSWER:
For colon cleansing, senna tea with plenty of warm water is very effective. as for detox tea, I'm sorry but I don't know--but the herbs milk thistle, dandelion, yellow dock and burdock have a beneficial effect on the liver. I don't know if they cleanse it, but they apparently stop damage from occurring. I was showing increasing liver damage in lab tests until I started taking these herbs and then the damage stopped and my liver enzymes returned to normal.

What can you tell me about home colon cleansing?
Is it safe? A good idea? What products to avoid?

    • ANSWER:
colon cleansing is just plain silly. It was proven to not be of any medical benefit in the early 1900's, unless of course you are constipated or are having a medical procedure. By removing what is in the colon you also remove what is called normal flora, which is bacteria that normally live in your colon. You need this to keep you healthy. As far as the weight loss, your belly will look flatter, until you eat and need to have a bowel movement. If you are concerned about your bowels, a stool softener might help. It is normal to have a bowel movement as often as twice daily to as infrequently as every other day. Every person's body is different.

What is the most safe and effective way to cleanse your colon?
I would like to cleanse my colon but I want a safe as well as effective way to do it. I have seen pictures of peoples stools after they have used colon cleansers and I couldn't believe all the massive release of yearly buildup shown in those pictures. I would also like to expel any and all buildup in my colon as well.

    • ANSWER:
A healthy diet with plenty of fiber should make colon cleansing unnecessary. A person who eats lots of fast food, iceberg lettuce and no fruits or vegetables may need occaisonal hydrotherapy.

Are herbal supplements safe with prescription meds?
I'm taking some prescription medication and wondered if I can take something called Acai Berry with a Colon Cleanse? The Acai is a dietary supplement. My doctor is not in but I wondered if someone would have an idea about this mixture? I take very low doses of Levothyroxine, Toprol, Celexa and Xanax.

    Thanks for any help.

    • ANSWER:
The Acai berry should not be any problem for you. However, the Colon Cleanse might.

Does the Colon Cleanse product contain large amounts of fiber and/or bentonite clay? If so, don't take it at the same time you take your other meds, as it may sequester the meds in your intestinal tract and prevent their absorbtion. Give yourself at least two hours between the doses of colon cleanse and meds, just to be sure.

What is a good, safe colon cleanse, detox product?
There are many products that claim to cleanse your colon and remove pounds of accumulated you know what. These products are promoted through spam emails as weight loss products and mostly contain herbs and act as mild laxatives, but are there any true products that could help to cleanse your body and available without a prescription?

    • ANSWER:
There's a lot of pseudoscience insisting that toxic levels of waste build up in the colon, 'poisoning' you. It's total hogwash, without medical merit.

What will a colonic or a colon-cleansing product do for you? It'll empty the colon, for very short-term weight loss of waste that would have worked its way out over the next day or two. If you suffer from hemorrhoids, it may soften the stool to allow it to pass more comfortably. If you happen to be constipated, either one will solve the problem, temporarily.

The con is that it's absolutely unnecessary. You'd be better off eating whole grains, plenty of fruit and vegetables, and drinking enough to be properly hydrated all the time. In addition, in many states there's no regulation or training of those who administer colonics, so the potential for unsantiary equipment or injury is present.

How long schould I wait to conceive?
Hi, I want to get pregnant but I am currently doing a 2 Month colon cleanse and after that am taking some natural pills to help me loose some pounds before I get pregnant.
How long after I stop taking all those medicines is it safe to conceive a baby?
    Thank you!

    • ANSWER:
You should see your GP, so he/she can advise you properly based on the staff your are putting in your body at the moment; even natural pills made with herbs are not suitable for pregnant women or while breastfeeding. Also, before you conceive you should be having Folic Acid at least for 3 months, to low the chances of spina bifida in the baby (preferable but not absolutely necessary).

Is It safe to hace a colon cleanse at 17?
I have really bad constipation problems due to my kidney stones,. should i get the pill thats a colon cleanse.

    • ANSWER:
The best thing you can do right now is increase your water intake and get some exercise (which increases the movement of the intestines.) Another way to get rid of constipation is increasing fiber in your diet (whole grains, greens etc.) Colon cleanse is not necessary unless advised by a physician and can cause dehydration. I would ask your MD before doing anything and try the ways I suggested before getting into using unnecessary medications or procedures!

    • ANSWER:
The one that works the best for me is this stuff called ultra colon cleanse. Although to be honest I haven't used any other products so I can't really compare them to others. I can only tell you about my experience using this one.

I've been using it about 3 times a year (once a quarter) and it really helps clean up my system. I think of it like a neti pot for my system (btw - if you suffer from allergies I also HIGHLY recommend using neti pot).

From what I've learned and experienced, doing the colon cleansing helps get rid of the toxins that build up in your body. It's kinda like hitting the reset button on your digestive system. :)

The colon cleansings really helps puts a spring back in my step.

Anyway, I got the stuff I use through mail order. I put the site below if you wanna take a look.

    • ANSWER:
Sounds like a bunch of new age nonsense. Go see a dermatologist and ask him/her for their opinion. Your colon is not supposed to be devoid of toxins btw. If you cleanse all the bacteria and what not, you will find it difficult to break down any number of foods and are asking for trouble.

Does getting a colon cleanse help you lose weight and is it healthy?
I heard from a friend that a friend of her's cleaned out her colon and she lost a lot of weight. Is it possible to lose weight from cleaning your colon and then start exercising and eating healthy from there on? Is it safe? What are the side effects and does the process hurt? What colon cleanser should I use?
I need a safe colon cleanser that I can use on a daily basis because my digestive system is sluggish and needs a lot of help. I have tried Phillips Colon Health and Sanar Colon Cleanse 2002, but they didn't work for me. Help?

    • ANSWER:
It is extremely unhealthy to do any sort of cleanse daily. The products you are taking are simply laxatives that work in much the same way as metamucil. If you are having problems maintaining regular bowel movements, try incorporating more fiber into your diet and less meat. You may also want to try Metamucil or Citrucel. If you continue to have difficulty maintaining regularity, you should see a physician as you may have a serious GI condition.

Do any of the diet vitamins work?
I want to lose weight but i don't want to not eat and no extreme exercising so i was wondering if the acai berry and colon cleanse actually work or if they're just full of shit. I don't mind exercising just not extreme stuff. If you've tried the acai berry and it hasn't worked maybe suggest what's worked or working for you.

Please don't comment if it's rude or unhelpful!

    • ANSWER:
This whole acai berry thing is a scam.
Acai berries are high in antioxidants.
A diet high in antioxidant foods can increase your metabolism.
An increase in metabolism can burn more calories.
More calories burned can result in weight loss.
      Acai berries cause weight loss!
That is the big "stretch" these con artists are selling.
Acai berries don't have any more antioxidants in them than blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries. At 10 times the price because they are "exotic".
The "cleanse" pills that usually come with them contain nothing more than psyllium husk powder to help you poop more. There is no such thing as a "fat burner ". Burning more calories than you consume is the only fat burner.
None of these weight loss supplements guarantee anything unless you establish a healthy diet and exercise program.
So why not just establish a healthy diet and exercise program and keep your money?
The same "stretch of the imagination" applies to the green tea, maquiberry, hoodia, moyoberry, gojiberry, fruta planta, and african mango seed extract pills out there.
Spending the same to a day on this junk would pay for a great gym membership.
The only weight loss supplement I recommend is a basic multivitamin.
A healthy diet high in both soluble and insoluble fiber is the only safe way there is.

Can a colon cleanse hurt a gastric bypass patients stomach?
I've been taking Dr.Natura's Colonaide for a few days now and the results are great. I've done my research and know its perfectly natural for the intestines and all that to bloat. The problem is that it feels like my stomach has expanded and i'm able to drink much more than normal. I'm worried this could effect me after I stop the cleanse. Please someone help!

    • ANSWER:
The safest thing you could do is ask your doctor or surgeon.

Looking online for your colon cleanse it says...
"The main ingredient in Colonix® Intestinal Cleanser is psyllium. Psyllium is a natural bulking agent, which yields 60 to 70 percent soluble fibre – eight times that of oat bran. Psyllium helps to absorb toxins in the colon by creating a spongy, gelatinous mass in the bowels. By swelling and absorbing fluids, it breaks down and moves toxic waste matter stuck in the folds and crevices of the colon.

In addition to psyllium, Colonix® also contains 14 herbs, all of which play an important role in thoroughly cleansing the colon. These include Flax Seed, Fennel Seed, Papaya Fruit, Grapefruit Pectin, Slippery Elm Bark, Marshmallow Root, Rhubarb Root, Guar Gum, Alfalfa, Peppermint Leaf, Uva Ursi Leaf, Stevia Leaf Extract, Licorice Root and Aloe Vera."

Fibre can cause called a bezoar - a ball of matter wich accumulates in the stomach. "A number of agents cause pharmacobezoars, the most common culprits are antacids, some fibre laxatives."

Did your doctor or surgeon OK the cleanse? It looks a pretty potent mix for a delicate digestive tract.

It is possible to strestch the stomach if there is too much matter of any sort in there.
Please be safe, call your doctor's office.
I am only guessing from the few facts given.

Is there such thing as a safe, healthy cleanse?
I understand that colon cleanses are generally believed to be harmful, but is there such things as healthy body cleanse? I am not trying to lose weight, but I am attracted to the idea of helping my body to detox itself. I aspire to commit to some major lifestyle changes to improve my health.

    • ANSWER:
Yes! Try the "Clean" program. It's very safe and has a lot of good backup research about how it works and why it's effective. It's a long cleanse, but not one where you need to juice or starve yourself.
