      It is very normal to plateau during stages of weight loss, and very disheartening! Just keep up your commitment. Things that help include lemon juice in warm-hot water every morning (like a shower on the inside) - for the first week just have one large glass of hot water with the juice of up to half a lemon (or lime - not orange) first thing. then if you can, go for a walk. Follow with a vegetable juice, preferably carrot, parsley and celery. then have a good breakfast with some protein, but no processed foods. Eat fresh fruit and veg, preferably no meat, but some fish is OK. Definitely no chicken (growth additives to their food make it hard to lose weight if you eat chicken). Cut out dairy. Nuts and green veg will provide the calcium you need. Eat enough to satisfy you, but don't eat if you are not hungry. It is important to eat enough so that your body doesn't go into "starvation mode" and store everything, ie keep up your metabolic rate.

      Before meals have a large teaspoon of psyllium husks mixed in water - the psyllium acts like a broom through the gut, and also fills you so that you won't eat so much.

      From the second week on, start each day with two large glasses of warm water and lemon juice. (2 glasses the first week can make the cleansing process too fast, resulting in headaches and a feeling of nausea)

      As a general rule: breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper - what you eat at night you tend to store on the hips, but starving yourself just makes it easier to gain weight.

      You need the syrup for energy without it you will not get the appropriate nutrients and will not be doing the cleanse properly. You will definitely look and feel much thinner. In the master cleanse book it says you will probably loose about 10 pounds. This will most likely be water weight.

    Also, is it okay to consume small amounts of protein to stay sustained? Or just best to stay away from all during this.       - Lemons (depending on the time of the year ask friends/family for access to a lemon tree. This will cut costs dramatically. Lemons, however are inexpensive and can be purchased at any grocery chain or discount store) Figure you will need 3-5 lemons per day per individual on the Master Cleanser Diet.

      - Organic Grade B Maple Syrup (Call the store before purchasing!! We went to several different stores before finding it at Trader Joes and there were only 2 left. You will go through this quickly, once again - stock up!)

      - Herbal Tea Laxative, Cayenne Pepper, Uniodized Salt (should be able to purchase at any store, make sure to get caffeine free tea)

      - Purified or Spring Water (if you don't already drink purified water, consider investing in a cheap filter, you can also fill up the gallons for .50 a piece).


      It is recommended that you drink 6-10 servings per day. If you want more calories, drink more servings, if you want a little less drink less, but do your best to stay within the recommended amount.

      The following equals 1 serving of the Master Cleanser Lemonade Diet:

      - 2 tbsp (1 fluid oz) freshly squeezed lemon/lime juice (NOT BOTTLED JUICE)
      - 2 tbsp (1 fluid oz) organic grade b maple syrup

    What is the difference between a lemon and a lime-in a liver cleanse it is advised to drink warm water with?

      As you requested, I did some further research upon the topic and found that both lemons and limes seem to work the same way for this purpose.

      The use of lemon or lime varies depending on the area. For example, in some Latin America countries, what we call "Lemon" is called "Limon Amarillo" (Literally "Yellow Lemon"), and they call limes "Limones" ("Lemons")

      Depending on where did the recipe originated, you may find that they either use one or the other. Some will exclusively say "Lemon Juice", while others will say "Lime Juice"

      Several recipes call for either one or the other saying "lemon or lime juice"

      Since both are highly acidic the results seem to be pretty much the same.

      In conclusion, the only difference you will notice will be in the taste.

      When you have a chance, try this delicious cocktail:

      1 mango, pitted
      2 oranges, peeled
      1/2 papaya, seeded

      I have the ebook 504 Relaxing Bath & Beauty recipes. You might try Googling for it...I know some folks try to sell it, but I downloaded it free. There are hundreds, well 504 lolol, of recipes, for facials, scrubs, and what I like the best some great sounding combo's for bath salt's and such. Ok came back...checked my bookmarks for you since I have a couple of my fav free ebook sites booked and I FOUND IT FOR YOU! Will put link below...hope you enjoy! (and you might want to check out some of the other books too!!!).

      Here are a few facial recipes that popped out at me as being interesting to try;

      The enzymes in the papaya help soften skin by removing dead surface cells.
      1/2 papaya
      1/2 tsp. lemon or lime juice
      1 tsp. honey
      Mash the ingredients together. Apply to clean face, leave on for 10 minutes,
      then rinse well.

      Honey Almond Scrub
      2 Tbsp almonds
      2 tsp milk
      1/2 tsp flour
      1/2 tsp honey
      Grind almonds in a blender. Add milk, flour and honey, mixing until a
      thick paste is formed. Rub into skin, rinse with warm water followed
      by the pH balancer.

      1 C. dried orange and lemon peel
      1 C. cooked oatmeal
      1 C. blanched almonds
      Place peels, oats, and almonds in a blender and whirl until the mixture is a
      fine powder. Store powder in an attractive container in the bathroom.

      To use, place a bit of the grains in the palm of your hand and moisten with a few drops of warm tap water. Rub the paste onto your face with a gentle circular and upward motion. Rinse off with tepid water and pat dry. You can
      finish your cleansing by rinsing your face with one of the facial rinsing lotions or smoothing on a facial cream.

      1 handful rose petals

      As found at the site listed below. I've heard good things about this as a prep to both dieting & bulking. Since this is all you're supposed to have for a few days, I'd suggest pumping a couple of days worth of milk for the baby & not directly feeding while on this.

      #1 (single serving):

      * 2 Tablespoons of organic lemon Juice (about 1/2 a Lemon)
      * 2 Tablespoons of Organic grade B maple syrup (not the commercial maple flavored syrup you use on pancakes)
      * 1/10 Teaspoon Cayenne pepper powder

      I know this sounds weird, but here are a few great recipes!

      -1/2 cup almonds
      - 1 carrot
      - 1 egg
      - 1 tbsp honey

      Almonds are particularly good for exfoliating the skin, honey and eggs are very good moisturizers, and carrots are the holy grail of facial products - they're rich in beta carotene, vitamin A, antioxidants. They also help with acne and acne scars.

      Or try this one:
      - 1 grated apple
      - 1 tbsp honey
      - 1/4 cup oatmeal
      - 1/4 cup yogurt
      And blend them all together in a food processor/blender. Apples are very good for brightening the skin, oatmeal is wonderful for soothing skin, and yogurt and honey are great for moisturizing the skin. Try adding a little bit of lemon juice for extra cleansing.

      Citris Salad Dressing

      1 cup extra virgin olive oil
      1/4-1/3 cup lemon juice (to taste)
      salt and pepper to taste
      1 clove minced garlic

      Combine all ingredients in a blender and put on the lid. Turn on the blender beginning on the lowest setting. Gradually step the speed to high for about a minute. If you don’t have a blender, make sure to put the garlic through a press and whisk all ingredients together well.

      you can change whatever you would like in this recipie to make it your own. add a little lime juice in place of some of the lemon juice. put in whatever herbs you like.

It's supposed to be more of a cleansing thing that a diet thing. Of course, there are also cleansing diets that allow you to eat, so they are probably more safe.       It's called the lemon-pepper-maple syrup diet or the Master Cleanse Diet (cayenne pepper)

      I have no idea if it works, but it's not one of the most healthy things I've heard about. It's more of a detoxification diet. Pretty extreme and extreme usually means 'not good'

    What's the best recipe for a Rapid Cleanse of your body?
    I'm looking for a way to use products at home to do a rapid cleanse (yes, I know it will be just water weight) my system before I start a healthy weight loss program. I've already lost about 7 lbs (in 3 weeks), but just want to kick start.

      The one that I really like is Lemon juice, Maple syrup, cayenne pepper and warm water. It works really well and the little bit on maple syrup keeps you going so that can replace one or two of your meals in a day. Experiment with the amounts, I usually do about 1-2tablespoons lemon, 2teaspoons maple, pinch of cayenne in a mug full of warm water. It tastes pretty good once you get used to the cayenne.

      And actually if done right, this doesn't just purge your bowels as mentioned above. It is very good for cleansing intestinal parasites and your liver. Just be careful.

      Oily skin is an offshoot of hormonal imbalances and increased activity of the sebaceous glands. Teenagers are often plagued with this sort of problem and heat and humidity can exacerbate it. As a consequence of excess oil being produced, the skin actually shines and the pores enlarge. Thus the skin appears rough and coarse. So the underlying factor is to remove this excess oil. Washing with soap and hot water at least 3 times a day is an absolute must. Try not to clog the pores with soap. Massage the face lightly using an upward and circular motion. Antibacterial cleansing lotions or medicated soaps are much better than harsh soaps. Non-greasy Cleansers and toners are meant to remove the excess oil, but sadly the oil glands refuse to be subdued, they trigger the oil glands to produce more oil. Oily skin care is a little more strenuous than care for normal skin.

      Fruit acids are known to have positive effects. These acids attack the surface layers of dead skin and remove the dead cells and stale oil. The pores unfettered by this combination appear to shrink in size and the overall effect is one that is less oily and smoother. The advantage of fruit acids is that it helps the skin to retain its moisture. In India, a mixture of lime and cucumber juice with a few drops of eau de cologne has known to work wonders. It keeps the oil at bay and also prevents acne. In fact a little cucumber juice only on the oily areas prevents make up from becoming patchy. Just ensure that the cucumber juice dries well before you apply make up. Aloe Vera, organic yogurt, crushed strawberries and a little borax acts as an efficient astringent for oily skin. Just massage the mixture well and wash with warm water. A mixture of Multani matti and honey works wonders for oily skins especially in tropical countries like India. Apply this mask at least a couple of times a week. Keep it on for about 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. The use of a light antiseptic day and night cream can keep the oil at bay.

      There are certain essential oils and herbs, which are good for oily skin. Lavender, lemon, and sage oil and the popular aloe Vera herb nourish the skin. Lemon grass, liquorice roots and rosebuds are excellent face saunas and are inexpensive options for Oily skin care. In India, homeopathy prescribes Mercurius or Natrum Mur for oily faces. These however have to be prescribed by the physician. There are many things that we can do at home to combat an oily skin. Washing the face with besan flour has been something that Indians have been doing over the centuries. A mixture of apple juice and limejuice applied for 15 minutes and washed with cold-water acts as a very good astringent. The everyday cucumber and tomato mashed and applied to the face is very good for the care of oily skin. One other simple thing that is often done in Indian homes is washing the face with buttermilk before exposure to the sun. Apply it allover the face and neck, wait for about 10 minutes and wash with warm water. Rose water mixed with ice water and mint juice with rose water is excellent for oily skin care. Always remember, any application should be left on for at least 10 minutes before being washed.

      Of course these are just some of the things that we can do, but most important is the kind of food we eat. A rich protein diet and low in sugar and salt is highly recommended. Leafy vegetable, fresh fruits, lots of water, regular exercise and adequate sleep help promote an oily free skin. Avoid fatty foods, chocolates, junk food and soft drinks. Avoid oil in salad dressing. Use curd or limejuice instead. Ensure that there is no vitamin B2 or B5 deficiency. Brush and massage the whole body frequently.       Pack for a fair and smooth skin

      Take 2 tsp lemon juice, 1 tsp glycerin and 3 tsp rose water and mix. Apply this lotion all over the body and keep it for 15-20 minutes and then wash with tepid water.

      Take 1 tsp lemon juice, cup yogurt and 1 tsp orange juice. Make a paste and apply this on your face and neck and keep for 15-20 minutes and then wash with tepid water.

      For dry skin this mask works wonders. Take one egg and beat it till frothy. Add 1 tsp honey. 1 tsp glycerin, 1 tsp mineral oil. Apply this on the face and other dry areas on the body and wash after 15 minutes.

      Protein Pack: soak 1 tsp urad dal and 4 almonds in water overnight and then grinding them into a paste. You can then apply this protein mask to your face and wash it off after half an hour. This exceptional protein mask will not only nourish the skin but also bleach it.

      The basic preparation of the moisturizer:

      2 tablespoon Aloe Vera gel
      3 ounces of olive oil
      1 ounce of cocoa butter
      2 ounce of rose water.

      For normal skin, use almond or Jojoba oil.

      For oily to Blemished skin, use jojoba oil .

      Honey Facial Mask

    I am beginning my seven day fruit and vegi detox and was wondering if anyone had some tasty recipes they would like to share? I have already made a few and lets just say I never made it through the whole cup. If I am going to survive this entire week I need juices that dont taste like something out of the garbage disposal! So I would love some recipes that I can tolerate and can you also give me the amount needed of each ingredient because I am going to try to make a big batch to last me at least a whole day or two.

      This leaves the flesh and seeds of the fruit. And any citrus extracts make it clarifying and shine enhancing as well as energizing. I would try to add lots of natural fruit, nut and flower oils for moisture and shine. If you have oily hair then add vinegar, or sea salt. Almond, coconut and olive oils help repair the hair from the inside out.

      I was just watching a segment on channel 3 news in Cleveland OHio about detoxing... I tried one that really did seem to work well... as long as I followed it to the t... which I didn't

      Anyway the segment basicially said that all the detox systems on the shelves aren't worth a whole lot, and basicially don't do a whole lot as a matter of fact when they contacted the companies they couldn't even tell you what detoxing is.... interesting

      anyway at the end of the segment all she said was that PLENTY of water and TONS of greens (veggies that are green... the greener the better)... I would add to that myself spices.. like cayenne pepper or the like or maybe some tabassico sauce (great metabo booster as well)

      I'm not saying that the detox boxes don't work but if you want a decent on your going to have to pay upwards 50 bucks.... and you may have a decent system that will work pretty effectivetly...

      also there is also the master clense diet... which is water lemon (squeeze in the water) a table spoon of maple syrup, and a table spoon of cayanne pepper.... 3 times a day, with 8 ounces of water...
      this is a fasting cleanse so you don't eat for 3-5 days depending.... but it doesn't detox... it just makes you poo and starve... but you lose the weight...

      I'd recommend TONS of WATER and GREEN VEGGIES.... stick to that for about 2 weeks (qhich is what a detox program calls for) your clean yourself out and be ready for a great start to a new life...       I found those links. There are many variations of this diet. But the main thing is fresh lemons (or Limes) and water. Lemons/Limes release the toxins in your system(Bacteria and other waste). It is also known to burn fat. The one diet I saw says you must drink the miz 8-10 times a day and eat no food. But it's up to you. This cleanses your system and makes you lose a couple pounds.       Toning: Egg Whites
      Using egg whites is the cheapest and easiest way to tone your skin at home. Simply separate a few raw egg whites into a bowl and apply directly on the facial skin after cleansing. Let the egg white dry for at least 15 minutes and rinse it off with lukewarm water for an instant glow. For acne, take one egg white and put it directly on top of the pimple for 20 minutes.

      The Master Cleanse works just how it sounds; you consume primarily lemonade for the entire time you're on the diet. So the recipes for the diet itself are fairly simple. You should drink a minimum of 60 oz of lemonade a day, but can drink more if you like. You can also drink as much water as you want. I suggest you consume your body weight in ounces of water.

      Below are two different recipes. The first is for a single serving of the master cleanse lemonade. The second will make 6 servings

      #1 (single serving):

      * 2 Tablespoons of organic lemon Juice (about 1/2 a Lemon)
      * 2 Tablespoons of Organic grade B maple syrup (not the commercial maple flavored syrup you use on pancakes)

      The recipe is to mix 2 tbsp of FRESH lemon juice (really fresh. you cant just squeeze the juice in the morning and pop it in a container, it doesnt work that way. needs to be fresh.) with 2 tbsp of maple syrup and add a pinch of cayenne pepper, to your liking, and then with cold water, not hot or warm.

      Sweet Shrimp With Mayonnaise Sauce

      6 ounces medium-size shrimp, peeled and de veined
      1/2 teaspoons salt
      1/2 teaspoon baking powder
      2 tablespoons mayonnaise
      2 tablespoons condensed milk
      1 tablespoon crushed pineapple, drained of juice
      1 teaspoon lemon juice
      3 cups corn or peanut oil
      1 egg yolk
      2 tablespoons cornstarch
      1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds, optional
      1.Wash clean the shrimp, drain and pat dry with paper towels and put in a bowl.
      2.Add salt and baking powder to shrimp and mix. Let sit, covered, for at least one hour and no more than three hours in the refrigerator.
      3.Meanwhile, mix together the mayonnaise, milk, pineapple and lemon juice in a bowl. Cover and place in the refrigerator and chill one hour, or until the sauce becomes firm.
      4.Wash the shrimp in cold, running water for three minutes, to cleanse it of the baking powder and salt. Drain and dry with paper towels. Put the shrimp in a bowl.
      5.Heat the oil to 400 degrees.
      6.Beat the egg yolk and add to the shrimp, mixing thoroughly to coat. Pour off any excess egg yolk. Now, add the cornstarch to the shrimp and mix.
      7.Fry the shrimp in the oil for about 3 minutes, or until they turn golden yellow.
      8.Remove the shrimp and drain on paper towels.

      I wasn't very disciplined in doing this diet as my purpose is more of cleansing my body. Naturally if those kind of toxins and waste congestion are flushed from your body, you're bound to have lower weight (unless you eat like crazy).

      It is also advised for the girls to do this lemonade diet after your period.

      You should drink lemonade instead of water throughout the day. Regard the lemonade as water replacement, so drink the usual 8 - 10 glasses a day. The herbal tea must be drunk in the morning and before you go to bed.
