Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Is there a natural liver cleanse that you have tried and would suggest?
I've read about a lot of liver cleanses--juice fasts, lemon juice and cayenne, olive oil, epsom salts, herbal mixes, radish juice etc. Is there a natural (not packaged) liver cleanse that you've tried and would suggest?

    • ANSWER:
Those "liver cleanses" are all a bunch of hoopla over nothing.
There are some BASIC heathy things you can do for your liver:
      * more water
      * less alcohol and caffeine
      * less fat and animal proteins
      * fewer refined and processed foods
      * more healthful, whole, plant-based foods
All the rest of is it just a way to sell books and products by making you think they are somehow doing something "special."

Your liver functions as your liver, removing toxins from the food you eat and the liquids you drink. Over stimulating it by putting extra "toxins" into your body, like cayenne, lemon juice, etc. does not make it work any harder or better, and does NOT "flush your liver out."

Eat healthy, drink MORE WATER (the biggest non-secret of all), and cut back on pre-processed foods, eating more fresh fruit and vegetables...

If you do that, you just make it easier for your liver to function, period.
Eating the "bad" stuff and not drinking enough water will overstress your liver, and no amount of olive oil and cayenne pepper will make things better...

    • ANSWER:
Milk thistle, dandelion and artichoke supplements.

  3. QUESTION:
How can I do I liver cleanse without the apple/olive oil mix?
I want to do a liver cleanse but I don't want to do that extreme apple/olive oil lemon juice mixture.

Is there a way that I can do it with eating certain foods a certain way, slowly over time?

    • ANSWER:
Yes, there are many other ways to heal your liver, such as herbs like milk thistle or specially formulated liver supplements. Livatrex can help you painlessly pass stones like a liver flush with olive oil and lemon juice, but less dramatic.

Also there is a liver flush that uses eggs, limes, and oil but is really mild. Some people have success with that.

Changing your diet will help - healthy fats, cruciferous vegetables, whole grains, limiting sugar, eliminating bad fats. Karen Hurd has a protocol of eating legumes to decongest the liver. Just eating a lot of apples will help, one or two daily. The tart ones are best like Jonathan or Granny Smith.

Daily lemon water also cleanses the liver and kidneys and is easy to add on to whatever you decide.

  4. QUESTION:
Has anyone HERE ever done the Liver Cleanse & Does it really work?
    Hi,

Has anyone here ever done a Liver Cleanse(by ingesting olive oil & lemon juice)? If so. What happened & did you benefit from it?

Also can you guide me to a safe guidelines on the net for doing this?

    Thanks in advance.

    • ANSWER:
I did the liver cleanse 5 times in 4 years. I have a very "lazy" gallbladder. I used to have migraines every other day, or one week in a row, tinnitus, and not to mention I was scheduled for surgery(gallbladder). After the first cleanse I felt awesome, and I got rid all of those symptoms. Make sure you take acidophilus for at least one week after this procedure. It balance the friendly bacteria, and make your digestive tract function better.

  5. QUESTION:
What is the best full body cleanse recipe?
Do they really work? A friend has recommended Hulda Clarks Liver cleanse. The problem is I am 30 to 40 pounds over weight. (was 65 pounds). I lost 25 pretty quick now I am 'stuck'. I walk 2 miles a day fast, I do a 35 minute work out. I eat like a bird. Lots of salad, little to no carbs. Haven't lost an ounce in weeks! I feel better but I want the pounds OFF. My friend says a body cleanse might help kick the weight loss back into gear? I am 44, 5.6 and weigh 193. I need to get at least 30 more pounds off to feel comfortable. Will a body cleanse help?
I tried a body cleanse from the health store and I noticed NO difference in anything. It was called 'Total Body rapid cleanse by Renew Life. Was a waste of money from what I can tell.

    • ANSWER:
It is very normal to plateau during stages of weight loss, and very disheartening! Just keep up your commitment. Things that help include lemon juice in warm-hot water every morning (like a shower on the inside) - for the first week just have one large glass of hot water with the juice of up to half a lemon (or lime - not orange) first thing. then if you can, go for a walk. Follow with a vegetable juice, preferably carrot, parsley and celery. then have a good breakfast with some protein, but no processed foods. Eat fresh fruit and veg, preferably no meat, but some fish is OK. Definitely no chicken (growth additives to their food make it hard to lose weight if you eat chicken). Cut out dairy. Nuts and green veg will provide the calcium you need. Eat enough to satisfy you, but don't eat if you are not hungry. It is important to eat enough so that your body doesn't go into "starvation mode" and store everything, ie keep up your metabolic rate.

Before meals have a large teaspoon of psyllium husks mixed in water - the psyllium acts like a broom through the gut, and also fills you so that you won't eat so much.

From the second week on, start each day with two large glasses of warm water and lemon juice. (2 glasses the first week can make the cleansing process too fast, resulting in headaches and a feeling of nausea)

As a general rule: breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper - what you eat at night you tend to store on the hips, but starving yourself just makes it easier to gain weight.

Make sure you drink lots of water!!!! Add some lemon juice to help make it more palatable if you want.

Before going to bed each night, spend 5 minutes imagining yourself slim, trim and terrific!

Well done for getting as far as you have, and good luck with the remaining weight loss. Keep healthy and happy with who you are.

I hope these tips help and wish you all the best.

  6. QUESTION:
Does drinking a lot of apple juice negatively affect your liver?
Does drinking a lot of apple juice negatively affect your liver? My liver feels uncomfortable after I drank a couple glasses of apple juice in the last few days. I researched it and it seems like this is called "liver cleansing". I am not sure if I should get this checked out or not since it is somewhat uncomfortable. I have been using the bathroom plenty in the last few days as well. Which makes me think that it is "liver cleansing".

    • ANSWER:
I don't think so as it wouldn't be recommended to drink if so (e.g. would have the same reputation as alcohol), however it can cause acid erosion if you drink a lot! x

  7. QUESTION:
How do you use epsom salts on its own as a cleanse for the bowel , liver etc,?
i have seen the liver cleanse diet using epson salts and olive oil and grapefruite juice , but i don't want to do all that .

    • ANSWER:
Unfortunately the whole concept of detox is an urban myth. It is based solely on the irrational rants of constipated Edwardians who refused to eat vegetables as the considered them food only fit for the lower classes to consume. As a result they had little option but to spend their time taking laxatives and purgatives and giving themselves enemas. Provided you have not already done too much damage to your body, your liver and kidneys will deal with problem of removing toxins from your body, as that was what they were designed to do. After that, tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life and you can start afresh.

  8. QUESTION:
Can I pass my drug test in 6 days if I smoke weed once and take a bunch of cleansing herbs? HELP! Suggestions?
I haven't smoked in a year so like two hits will get me high. It's a home drug test. Can I pass it if I take liver cleanse, burdock root, cranberry juice, water, exercise intensely and put bleach in the sample? Will it show up?

    • ANSWER:
The only way to pass a drug test IS TO NOT USE DRUGS!!!!!!!!

  9. QUESTION:
What is a good way to cheaply detoxify your body?
A lot of health stores sell liver cleansing and colon cleaning regiments.... but is there a cheaper way of detoxifying your body?

    • ANSWER:
Try a 1-3 day juice fast, drink only unsweetened natural fruit and vegetable juices along with plenty of water. Add a little salt especially if you are sweating a lot. Moderate exercise is ok but don't overexert yourself.

If you feel like you need extra colon cleansing then include prune juice, but be prepared to spend a lot of time in the bathroom getting "cleansed" :)

  10. QUESTION:
How Long Should a Liver Cleanse Last?
I'm taking a Milk Thistle blend but not sure how long to take it as the instructions don't cite duration. I'm thinking 10 days at the most---has anyone else done a liver cleanse?

    • ANSWER:
I've never done the milk thistle cleanse but I know there's an olive oil and lemon juice cleanse that you drink before going to bed and it's a one night thing though you can do it again in a few weeks.

Go ahead, do 10 days and if you're still feeling sluggish then do it again in 2 weeks.

  11. QUESTION:
What is the difference between a lemon and a lime-in a liver cleanse it is advised to drink warm water with?
fresh lemon juice squeezed in-would using juice from a lime serve the same purpose or is there a difference and what would that be?

    • ANSWER:
I apologize for my previous reply. Thank you for the clarification.

As you requested, I did some further research upon the topic and found that both lemons and limes seem to work the same way for this purpose.

The use of lemon or lime varies depending on the area. For example, in some Latin America countries, what we call "Lemon" is called "Limon Amarillo" (Literally "Yellow Lemon"), and they call limes "Limones" ("Lemons")

Depending on where did the recipe originated, you may find that they either use one or the other. Some will exclusively say "Lemon Juice", while others will say "Lime Juice"

Several recipes call for either one or the other saying "lemon or lime juice"

Since both are highly acidic the results seem to be pretty much the same.

In conclusion, the only difference you will notice will be in the taste.

  12. QUESTION:
Can you detoxify your body by just eating the right stuff?
I've been reading all these articles about liver cleanse and colon cleanse programs. I've been eating tons of trans fats, fast food, preservatives and other crap.
Now my question is: do you really have to do that kind of stuff, or will keeping a healthy diet make the body detoxify by itself eventually? By healthy diet i mean mostly raw food (including meat).

    • ANSWER:
A good healthy diet high in fiber, lean meats, eggs, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, antioxidant foods, healthy beverages and low in added sugar and salt help people lose weight, gain weight, lower cholesterol, increase energy, improve brain function, lower blood pressure, reduce cancer risk, heart disease and stroke risk, and have a more positive lifestyle!
You need to eat a lot more food and a lot more fiber!
Diets that exclude foods from any food group are fad diets and do not lead to permanent weight loss or solve any other health issues.
First, try to kick your fiber intake to 40 grams of both soluble and insoluble fiber.
Whatever you do, get your fiber from your food, not from a jar.
Fruits and vegetables have good fiber in them.
Try a breakfast cereal with at least 20% of recommended daily allowance of fiber in it. They are usually low in sugar so there is a double benefit. Blueberries or raspberries on top add more fiber and antioxidants. But fresh or frozen, not the kind in syrup.
Raw nuts are a great source of fiber, healthy fats, and antioxidants. Avocados are the best.
Lots of beans, peas, and grains are high fiber. Whole grain breads. Fiber kicks up the metabolism so you actually burn more calories. These foods will give you more gas in the beginning but if eaten daily, the bacteria in the digestive tract will elevate lowering the gas output.
This will get you on the path for a healthy daily bowel movement. This helps clean the system and aids healthy digestion.
I know it goes against everything you've heard but eating lots of the right foods will actually help you lose weight!
Next, take a basic daily multivitamin. Don't look at your multivitamin as nutrition but more as an insurance policy. Think of it as filling in the gaps in your daily diet as opposed to a primary source of nutrients. If you are a woman, you may want a plus iron formula.
Last, you HAVE to drink lots of water to be healthy. But you can disguise it. Fill your glass all the way full with ice before pouring low sugar beverages. Try iced green tea with a splash of orange juice in it for sweet. More antioxidants. Add lemon juice to water for flavor. Slice up a cucumber and float it in pitcher of water. Gives it salty fresh taste. But you must drink up to 100 oz of water daily to help your body get rid of waste and the toxins it contains.
You must combine a healthy diet with exercise to multiply the benefit. Whether an hour a day in the weight room or just a 30 minute brisk walk every day, the added benefit of a regular exercise program really do increase and accelerate healthy weight loss.
You will get motivated when the changes start happening, I promise.
      Good luck.

  13. QUESTION:
Has anyone ever heard of a liver cleansing that you can do at home?
Did you try it, and do you think it really worked?

I was reading about this, and you're supposed to drink a lot of apple juice for 6 days and then drink water mixed with epsom salts and then another drink with grapefruit right before you sleep, then one more drink with epsom salt in the morning. Anyone heard of this? Anyone do it and can you tell me what you thought?
This supposedly releases all of the gall stones that have accumulated in the liver. You poop them out after drinking all of this stuff.

    • ANSWER:
Yes, yes, yes...I have done approx. 10

A great place to talk to others and learn about it and post questions during your liver/gallbladder cleanse is the Liver Flush Forum at www.curezone.com. You're never alone in what you are experiencing...

Good docs support this. The ones who would prefer to have your $$$$ for surgery to cut the BG out, NEVER will encourage you! Another example...loads of people take the stones to their docs/have analyzed by labs...the docs who are against anything that takes money out of their pockets will deny they are gallstones...but ER docs and those who see these stones all the time KNOW they are gallstones.

I am getting ready to start them again this weekend actually...I prefer the Coke Flush (look under recipes at the top of CZ Liver Flush Support page)...get loads more out with that one and it's not as nasty to choke down.

The goal is to get stones....if you are really congested, you will get what we call 'sand' or 'chaff' and it looks like cornmeal (broken stones)....if you are MASSIVELY congested... you will only get colored water for a flush or two.

      GOOD LUCK!! :)

  16. QUESTION:
what are some cheaper cleansing juices i could buy?
i want to do a juice cleansing, but i the one i found on this website is VERY exspensive. Does anyone know where i could buy the juices for cheaper?

    • ANSWER:
Like diet pills, teas, and fad diets, juice fasting gets the credit for a simple change in diet.
Our bodies contain the #1 tools essential to cleanse and detox. A liver and a pair of kidneys.
The only and easiest way to cleanse and detox is to stop putting all the chemicals, additives and concentrates from a diet of processed and refined foods in our daily diet.
Most drugs, alcohol, and food chemicals exit the body through normal processing and filtering by the liver and kidneys over a period of 3 to 4 days.
A healthy diet of whole fresh foods is the key to "cleansing" and "detoxing".
There is no miracle diet or product that will accelerate the process.
Our bodies are designed starting with the teeth to consume whole solid foods. The stomach, pancreas, gallbladder, intestines, and colon are all designed to work with solid foods, not highly concentrated juices. That is why we have teeth instead of blender blades in our mouths.
Both soluble and insoluble fiber are part of a healthy diet. Juicing substantially reduces the value and effectiveness of insoluble fiber. Insoluble fiber keeps the nutrients and toxic cellular waste dumped back into the lower small intestine moving through the digestive tract. This reduces the amount of time that waste spends in the body and lowers toxicity.
While juicing concentrates nutrients, it also concentrates natural sugars in fruits. Liquids are absorbed much quicker in the small intestines resulting in spiking of blood sugar and insulin levels in the blood.
WIthout complex carbohydrates and large insoluble fibers in the digestive system to extend and slow the absorption process, insulin spikes occur too often. A simple example is giving a diabetic with low blood sugar a glass of juice. It enters the bloodstream quickly. Constant insulin spikes increase appetite stimulation. So you can end up drinking even more juice. The problem with any fast or cleanse is things will change when it ends.
A healthy life diet of whole fresh foods including lean meats, eggs, fish, dairy, whole grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables are the keys to health, proper weight, and overall wellness. Avoid as much processed and refined food as possible.
Long I know but it is important to point out the change to a clean diet is the key yet we readily give the credit to the pill, potion, diet pill, detox, cleanse, or fad diet.
      Good luck and good health.

  17. QUESTION:
What are some good recipes for juice fasting?
I am beginning a juice fast in a couple of days and I am having trouble finding good recipes for juice short of having to purchase a book. Any suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
Well, it depends on your goals. Are you doing an overall cleanse or are you hoping to concentrate on the liver, the kidneys or the digestive system?
Here are some universal tips for a juice fast:
      1. Try to juice either a beet OR cabbage at least once per day in your fasting (assuming that you are juicing three or more times per day). Both have excellent cleansing agents.
      2. Make sure you have a good balance of fruit and vegetables.
      3. If you find yourself getting weak, ginger and cantalope are good energy boosters.
      4. You can always incorporate homemade vegetable broth into a juice fast. This might give you a change of scenery.
      5. Cucumber is good for cleaning the blood and pineapple is like the only natural source of bromine, which helps muscle cramps and just tastes good in general! :-) With both the cucumber and pineapple, keep the skin on.

I have a juice book at home with an entire section devoted to this subject (I'm at work right now). I'll message you later w/ some of my favorite recipes!

  18. QUESTION:
Can anyone recommend a liver cleansing regime that does not involve epsom salt, something gentle as my?
system is very sensitive- I once tried grapefruit juice and olive oil and it was a little rough, I was up all night with bad anxiety- I"m tyring to cure my anxiety, so I need something that works gently! thanks so much!

    • ANSWER:
Milk thistle benefits are numerous, and it has been used to treat a variety of health conditions. Most important is its role in strengthening and detoxifying the liver.

A member of the sunflower flower, its black seeds are harvested for medicinal use. The active ingredient within these seeds is called silymarin, which is where the therapeutic benefits lie.

One of the main benefits is its antioxidant ability, which is more potent than most vitamins. Antioxidants are able to remove toxic chemicals called free radicals from the body. These free radicals cause ceel damage which is the root of disease and premature aging.

Perhaps the most important milk thistle benefits are its effects on the liver. The liver is one of the most important organs in the body, breaking down nutrients and cleaning the body out. Milk thistle detoxifies the liver as well as protects it against damage from toxins, alcohol and other negative effects.

Milk thistle benefits the liver in other ways as well: it promotes regeneration and repair of liver cells, reverses liver damage and is very helpful in the treatment of hepatitis and cirrhosis.

Some milk thistle clinical trials show that milk thistle benefits may include reducing inflammation, decreasing excessive skin cell growth and helping treat endometriosis.

There are very few known side effects of milk thistle so you probably don't have to worry about milk thistle dangers if you take recommended dosages.

It is available online from the store below.

      Good luck & healthy regards,

  19. QUESTION:
How can you detoxify and cleanse your body the best?
I heard drinking lots of cranberry juice and water and that it is the best, along with just fruit and vegetables.

    • ANSWER:
One thing is to get some lemons and some stevia. Stevia is a sweetener which is considered about as good as you can do with fake sweetener. It's a ground up root from S. America. You can get it in a liquid form with an eyedropper in the bottle.

So two or three times a day, you squeeze out a lemon - put in a eye dropper of Stevia and have that with 10 oz or water or so. It's a nice lemonade - but they say it will kick things loose inside of you after a week or so. Sometimes our livers and gall bladders can get kind of jammed up.

  20. QUESTION:
I always get sick a few days before my period?
Every month just before my period I get sick. I normally get a cold or flu. This month I was so tired and ached all over I could barely move. The doctors have suggested taking multi vitamins, I am currently taking liver cleansing tablets which the natropath suggested but still to no avail. I really need some help. I can't tell you how annoying this is. Like other women I also get really hot and sweaty and have some weird dreams. Does any one have any suggestions that can help?

    • ANSWER:
First off, I think you should stop taking the liver cleansers. Their mostly associated with people trying to pass or prevent stones/stone formation. If you are in fact trying to pass stones then you should stop reading this right now. :O)
Before your body purges (loss of blood during your cycle), hormones are released in your body. They cause a number of different things to happen as well as invoking a number of different feelings and moods. The blood released in your menstral cycle is seperated from the 5L standard amount of blood in your body. From this we have, mild dehydration, mild to servere iron deficancy and a drop within your immune system's defensive capabilities seeing as how more white blood cells are withheld from your system. The loss of iron might be the root of your unrest. While you might be dehydrated, the fibers within your muscles have less lubrication during actin and myosin's stimulation (shortening and contraction of muscles). This causes fibers to break and the result is muscle pain. Your defense might just be lower then the average females immunal capabilities causing consistant sickness. If your doctor test your blood cell counts while you are not nearing or engaged in your period, something could be missed. I think you should take an iron pill and drink more water. Not an ungodly amount of water, just more water in general. The cleansers might be causing your body to purge things it shouldn't or doesn't need to be releasing. Being overweight, having an STD, asthma, smoking or even mild depression can add or create these symptoms as well and given I don't know your medical history, I can't be sure that anything that I tell you will work. Get a second opinion from a doctor you haven't seen before. Small practice doctors tend to be more mindful and follow up more often then PCF's at medical centers or hospitals. Hormones cause the weird dreams unless your dreaming of me because thats just pure lust!! (Joking :O) hahaha)
Try the iron tabs. They might not fully cut back on your colds but I think it might help your feeling tired. A little more exercise helps as well to strengthen your immune system and muscles. Also, drink juices with a large concentrated (I don't mean a drink thats "from or not from concentrate) dosage of Vitamin C to boost your immune system before your period. Not to much though, you should see what 500% the daily recommended value of Vit-C does to a frogs heart. LoL. Good luck to you, hope the info helps a little. Sorry if its to much also :O).

  23. QUESTION:
What treatments are there for liver failure?
I am doing research on liver failure in people who overdose on acetaminophen. I was hoping I might find out what some of the treatments are, how long the person has to live without treatment, and what some of the signs and symptoms are.

    • ANSWER:
      HI Pepto

DO you mean like a disease like cirrhosis? These methods here will heal the issue and all other kinds of internal problems.

      Cause
Liver function can be impaired by a toxic bowel. Most pharmaceutical drugs, if taken on a consistent basis, can also cause liver disease. If you are on such medications, be sure to have your liver function monitored regularly (every 3-6 months) by your physician, and consider other healing alternatives that might reduce or eliminate your need for medications.

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Natural Cures

Aromatherapy: Juniper, rosemary, and rose essential oils can all help stimulate liver function.

Detoxification: Liver function can also be impaired by a toxic bowel. For this reason, bowel cleansing and rejuvenation techniques may be very important. In severe cases, repeat the bowel cleanse once a month, or as needed, and stay on bowel nutrients for up to one year depending on the severity of your condition and your response to treatment.

Diet: Diet is extremely important in preventing and reversing all forms of liver disease, including cirrhosis. Eat a low-protein, whole foods diet of organic foods, including seeds, nuts, whole grains, beans, nuts, and goat or rice milk, and also eat plenty of leafy green vegetables. Avoid all alcohol and processed fats such as margarine, hydrogenated oils, and foods with these oils added, rancid oils, and hardened vegetable fats. Instead, use cold-processed oils such as olive. Also increase your consumption of foods high in amino acids and potassium, such as nuts, seeds, bananas, raisins, rice, wheat bran, kelp, dulse, brewer`s yeast, and molasses, and drink plenty of pure, filtered water. Avoid animal protein as well as raw or undercooked fish, and limit your overall intake of fish.

Also avoid all stressors on the liver, such as overeating, drugs of any kind, a highly processed diet (especially one high in processed fats, additives and preservatives), and foods high in animal protein, and accumulation of toxins from chemicals that have to be processed by the liver such as alcohol, drugs, acetaminophen, insecticides, and chemicals from rancid and processed oils. Toxins from Candida yeast organisms within the body can also contribute to liver stress, as can the use of contraceptives.

Herbs: Milk thistle is an excellent herb to help in the treatment of cirrhosis because it helps liver cells regenerate. It may be taken in the form of tablets or the non-alcohol extract called a glycerate. The dose is based upon the content of silymarin (the active ingredient of milk thistle) and so standardized extracts are preferable. The typical dosage range is 70-200 mg of silymarin daily. The herb Picrorhiza kurroa is not as well-known as milk thistle, but may have similar effects. Licorice can also be helpful. The Chinese herb bupleurum (chai-hu) may also be helpful, as can the herbal mixture of kutki (200 mg), shanka pushpi (500 mg), and guduchi (300 mg), with is used by practitioners of Ayurvedic medicine to boost liver function. Take 1/4 teaspoon of this mixture taken twice a day, after lunch and dinner, with aloe vera juice.

Juice Therapy: The following juices can help the liver eliminate toxins that cause stress on it: beet and carrot juice and wheat grass juice. To either juice, you can add raw flaxseed oil and garlic as tolerated.

Nutritional Supplementation: Lipotrophic factor nutrients are essential for aiding liver function. These include vitamin C, vitamin E, silymarin, lipoic acid, and raw liver tablets. Other useful nutrients in this regard include vitamin B complex, vitamin B12, folic acid, niacin (in small doses such as 10-30 mg. three times), liver glandulars, digestive enzymes with hydrochloric acid (HCL) and ox bile extract, and the amino acids L-methionine, L-carnitine, L-cysteine, L-glutathione, and L-arginine.

Caution: For all cases of liver disease, do not use more than 10,000 IU of vitamin A daily and avoid cod liver oil entirely.

      Alternative Professional Care
If your symptoms persist despite the above measures, seek the help of a qualified health professional. The following professional care therapies have all been shown to be useful for treating and relieving the symptoms of cirrhosis: Acupuncture, Cell Therapy, Detoxification Therapy, Magnetic Field Therapy, Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy, Naturopathic Medicine, Reflexology, Qigong, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

      Best of health to you

  24. QUESTION:
Strep throat home remedies for a person with cirrhosis of the liver?
My bro has no insurance so he can't go to doctor. He has strep troath and needs some home remedies that won't hurt his cirrhosis of the liver?

    • ANSWER:
      Hi Sol

I have healing remedies for both mentioned.

      Cause
Sore throats are usually caused by viral infections, but can also be due to bacterial infections, tonsillitis, overuse of the voice, exposure to irritating substances such as cigarette smoke, allergic reactions, infections of the mouth, and/or colds and flu.

Caution: Sore throats are rarely serious. However, if your sore throat does not heal within two weeks, and/or occurs with a rash, seek immediate medical attention. If any sore throat occurs with a rash, see a doctor. A sore throat caused by a Streptococcal infection (strep throat) must be identified and treated, or else it could create rheumatic fever or acute glomerulonephritis (disease of the glomerulus, a network of blood capillaries of the kidney).

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Natural Cures

Aromatherapy: Inhalations with benzoin, lavender, thyme, eucalyptus, geranium, lavender, clary sage, or sandalwood can help relieve symptoms.

Diet: Increase your intake pure filtered water, hot herbal teas, diluted fruit juices, and broths. Eat an organic whole foods diet that emphasizes fresh vegetables and vegetable soups. Avoid all sugars, alcohol, milk and dairy products and any and all foods to which you are allergic or sensitive. Raw organic honey placed at the back of the throat can also help soothe symptoms and speed healing.

      Flower Essences: Crab Apple.

Herbs: If your sore throat is due to an infection, chew a small piece of osha root (Ligusticum porteri) and/or gargle with an infusion of sage or licorice. For a sore throat due to smoke or pollution irritation, gargle with an infusion of lavender or hyssop. Other useful herbs include echinacea, garlic, ginger, goldenseal, and slippery elm.

Juice Therapy: Drinking the juice of one or two red potatoes can soothe symptoms.

Nutritional Supplementation: The following nutrients can be helpful: vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin C with bioflavonoids, and zinc (in the form of lozenges taken every 1-2 hours unless nausea occurs, in which case decrease dosage).

  25. QUESTION:
what should I eat or drink to reduce fat in liver?
Any kind of herbs or juice are better than counter medicine. I did not drink alcohol or eat fat food. Besides, I regularly went to Gym since 4 years ago.
    Please let me know. Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Increase the amount of raw fruits and vegetables
      • Use raw vegetable juices
      • Avoid deep fried and processed foods

Raw juices are an incredible powerful healing tool and can improve the function of the liver, bowels and kidneys. This increases the elimination of toxins and waste products from the skin.

      Recommended juices are:

      • ‘Liver Tonic Juice’
      • ‘Liver Cleansing Juice’
      • 'Antibiotic juice'

      Dairy
To lose weight, improve your liver function you must avoid ALL dairy foods including milk, cheese, cream, butter, ice cream, yogurt, chocolate etc the fat content of milk is actually quite negligible in terms of weight loss. - dairy foods contain high levels of antibiotics, steroids and artificial growth hormones as this is what the herds are treated with in today's high tech dairies to prevent disease and boost milk production. As with humans where substances go through into breast milk it is the same for cattle - only they neglect to tell you this in the advertisements when they are telling you how great milk is. If you need further info on this please visit www.notmilk.com.

Try some different brands and varieties of soy as they vary greatly. The fresh soy products in the dairy cabinet are much lighter and not as strong in taste as the long life products. There are also rice milks and oat milks to try

      • Avoid ALL margarines and similar type spreads
      • Avoid deep fried and fatty foods.
      • Avoid sugary processed foods and drinks
      • Limit chicken and turkey that is not free range as this contains artificial growth hormones, antibiotics and steroids that increase the livers workload.
      • Drink 2 liters of water each day.
      • Avoid artificial sweeteners see www.dorway.com

  26. QUESTION:
How to cleanse the liver and/or Pancreas?
Whats a good natural remedy to cleanse the liver and pancreas?

    • ANSWER:
This page outlines the basic Liver Cleansing. This section contains eight pages of details related to the Liver and Gallbladder Cleanse. We hope you find this information useful.
It is quite impossible to achieve complete health without having a clean body. If you want to build health and sustain it, the body must be made able to feed itself and remove its own wastes. This starts with a liver cleanse. When the liver is functioning it will clean the body at the cellular level provided that one eats good foods on a regular basis. At this point the food itself becomes a constant remedy. Eliminating the need for excessive supplementation.
The Basic Ingredients needed for a successful Liver Gallbladder Cleanse or Flush:

2-4 quarts of Organic Apple Juice
      6-12 fresh Organic Lemons
A 16 ounce bottle of Extra virgin Olive oil, or Walnut oil which is much more palatable and just as effective.
1 bottle of Digestorum or enough Paracelsus Elixir on hand to last for two or more weeks.

  27. QUESTION:
What are some ways to give your body a fresh start?
What are some ways to rid your body of toxins/bad things?

I want to completely start over and cleanse my body so it can have a fresh start. Besides drinking water, what are some ways to completely replenish/refresh/restart yourself (anything, really. Just no marketing scams. I don't want to have to spend money on this or anything).

and once I do, what are things I should keep from consuming, etc?

    • ANSWER:
I am glad someone cares that much about there body and wants to be heathy =) here are somethings to eat to re fresh your body
Green leafy vegetables Eat them raw, throw them into a broth, add them to juices. Their chlorophyll helps swab out environmental toxins (heavy metals, pesticides) and protects the liver.

Lemons You need to keep the fluids flowing to wash out the body and fresh lemonade is ideal. Its vitamin C, considered the detox vitamin, helps convert toxins into a water-soluble form that's easily flushed away.

Watercress Put a handful into salads, soups, and sandwiches. The peppery little green leaves have a diuretic effect that helps move things through your system. And cress is rich in minerals too.

Garlic Add it to everything -- salads, sauces, spreads. In addition to the bulb's cardio benefits, it activates liver enzymes that help filter out junk.

Green tea This antioxidant-rich brew is one of the healthiest ways to get more fluids into your system. Bonus: It contains catechins, which speed up liver activity.

Broccoli sprouts Get 'em at your health-food store. They pack 20 to 50 times more cancer-fighting, enzyme-stimulating activity into each bite than the grown-up vegetable.

Sesame seeds They're credited with protecting liver cells from the damaging effects of alcohol and other chemicals. For a concentrated form, try tahini, the yummy sesame seed paste that's a staple of Asian cooking.

Cabbage There are two main types of detoxifying enzymes in the liver; this potent veggie helps activate both of them. Coleslaw, anyone?

Psyllium A plant that's rich in soluble fiber, like oat bran, but more versatile. It mops up toxins (cholesterol too) and helps clear them out. Stir powdered psyllium into juice to help cleanse your colon, or have psyllium-fortified Bran Buds for breakfast.

Fruits, fruits, fruits They're full of almost all the good things above: vitamin C, fiber, nutritious fluids, and all kinds of antioxidants. Besides, nothing tastes better than a ripe mango, fresh berries, or a perfect pear.

  28. QUESTION:
How can i detoxify/decongest my liver naturally for clearer skin and overall well being?
I was told that if i detox/decongest my liver that i'll have clearer skin because the skin is a major outlet of everything else that is going on in your body.Right now i'm doing a colon cleanse kit.I just started. Will this interfere with naturally cleansing my liver or can i continue to take them?So how can i naturally detoxify my liver for clearer skin and overall well being?

    • ANSWER:
I'm sorry to be a downer, but the alternative medicine claims that your body needs "detox" are false. Your liver is incredibly efficient at removing things that shouldn't be there. You don't need anything special to remove things.

Drink lots of water. You don't need to drink aloe juice, and colon cleansing can be dangerous to the bacterial flora in your intestines. I wouldn't recommend it.

You should see a dermatologist if you want to help clear your skin up. I went through about 15 prescription medicines that did nothing until I got Accutane, which worked perfectly. Each person is a little different.

  29. QUESTION:
Is there an inexpensive home remedy for colon cleansing?
I've been doing a little research on those colon cleansing kits and they seem like the way to go for a healthier system. I work out regularily & have begun eating better. These kits are believed to eliminate toxicity and waste from the body, reduce stress from our vital organs (liver, colon, kidneys, blood, skin, etc.) and support the rejuvenation of the immune system. This all sounds great, B U T.....EXPENSIVE!! I just wondered if anyone knew any safe home remedies that might work as well?

    • ANSWER:
Psyllium hulls in powder form that you mix with water 2 to 3 times per day, drink lots of water, eath lot of fiber and raw vegetables, take acidophilous. this would be a good minimum to start. After about 2 weeks you can reduce psyllium to teice daily and discontinue the acidophilous.

You may wish to do a juice fast for the first day or two if you have a juicer and can access fresh vegetable juice, not v8 or sugary fruit juices.

This is not the most complete or exhaustive cleanse but it is a good basic start and the psylliun, water, fiber, vegetables part of it can be maintained for life. In the long run cunsistent healthy practices win out over occasional extremes anyway.

  30. QUESTION:
What are some good ways to clease internaly?
How do you cleanse your insides without drugs and stuff. Also, what is a good source of fiber?

    • ANSWER:
I agree with the med student, cleansing really does nothing for you. Your body has a liver and this is perfectly good at cleansing your body - trust it to do its job.

Good sources of fibre include fruit and veg (eat the skins on apples etc), prunes and prune juice, wholegrain fibres and cereals, beans, lentils, nuts and seeds or supplements as suggested.

  31. QUESTION:
What's the best recipe for a Rapid Cleanse of your body?
I'm looking for a way to use products at home to do a rapid cleanse (yes, I know it will be just water weight) my system before I start a healthy weight loss program. I've already lost about 7 lbs (in 3 weeks), but just want to kick start.

    • ANSWER:
The one that I really like is Lemon juice, Maple syrup, cayenne pepper and warm water. It works really well and the little bit on maple syrup keeps you going so that can replace one or two of your meals in a day. Experiment with the amounts, I usually do about 1-2tablespoons lemon, 2teaspoons maple, pinch of cayenne in a mug full of warm water. It tastes pretty good once you get used to the cayenne.

And actually if done right, this doesn't just purge your bowels as mentioned above. It is very good for cleansing intestinal parasites and your liver. Just be careful.

  32. QUESTION:
is the master cleanse better than a juice fast?
My boyfriend wants to start a juice cleanse, I think the master cleanse is the better option. Which is healthier?

    • ANSWER:
The master cleanse is a starvation diet that causes weight loss by emptying the entire digestive tract and glycogen stores. It will "cleanse" the body but only in the same way that we can cleanse by discontinuing poor lifestyle choices. You don't "detox" any quicker, just more dramatically.
This reduces the amount of time waste spends in the body and lowers toxicity.
If he is still going to do one or the other, at least he will be getting some nutrition from the juice fast.
      Good luck and good health.

    • ANSWER:
The first step to a healthy glow is more about what goes in your body than on it. The most important thing you can do for your skin is to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water throughout the day. This maintains the balance in the skin keeping it fresh, supple and radiant. Avoid things that dehydrate you, such as caffeine and soft drinks. Alternatively drink green tea and fresh fruit juices. These are full of anti-oxidants, another secret to healthy skin. Alcohol may be the worst reason in dulling ones natural glow so try avoiding large quantities of the same. Eating a healthy nutritious diet and regular exercise also contributes to maintaining healthy skin.
      Normal Skin
      - Even healthy skin needs looking after to retain that natural beauty. Bathing and cleansing the skin at least once a day is extremely important. Moisturising and pampering the skin with good products nourishes, and restores the skin cells keeping them balanced, soft and taut. Dry Skin
      - Dry skin can cause itchiness and irritation which is aggravated during the winter season and also when exposed to direct sunlight. To tackle this skin type one must use a gentle cream based soap which is high in TFM (Total Fatty Matter). This re-hydrates the skin making it smooth, and additionally the high oil content within the soap acts as a lubricant throughout the day. Along with this one must keep the skin moisturized with a good body cream (not lotion) and Sun block is a must (preferably one for sensitive skin). A soap which is great for battling this skin type is: Doy Care Crème (A great smelling Cream based Soap, made with vegetable oils with a TFM content of 80%). An alternative to soap is a Shower ‘Gel’ which washes off leaving the natural body oils undamaged and intact.
      Oily Skin
      - Over productive sebaceous glands under the skin are responsible for creating larger pores leaving the skin greasy. This is aggravated by heat and pollution. For this skin type one must use a glycerin based soap which has the properties of rejuvenating the skin leaving it fresh and oil free. Also use oil-free based products thereafter like oil-free makeup on the face, and oil free moisturizers for the skin (body lotions are better to use than creams). Sun block is a must but should also be oil-free. Doy Care Aloe Vera, a glycerin based soap with the refreshing properties of Aloe Vera is ideal for this skin type. Aloe Vera has for centuries been very highly regarded across the world as a remarkable natural skin cleanser with healing properties that moisturize your skin and also revitalize it. Doy Care Aloe Vera with glycerin is a beautiful translucent green skincare soap containing genuine Aloe extracts which provide you with all the benefits of Aloe Vera, keeping your skin beautiful, fresh and glowing all around the year; be it spring, summer, monsoon, or winter.
      Aging Skin
      - Everyone would like flawless, baby soft skin. However, as time goes by, the environment and other factors, damage our skin casing wrinkles and blemishes. There are four major components that make up a successful anti-aging skin care routine: -A moisturizer that penetrates deeply into the skin will help reduce sunspots, fine lines and wrinkles. Some skin types may require a larger or smaller amount of moisturizer to produce the desired results. -Antioxidants that can stop the oxidation process will lead to diminish the visible effects of skin aging. –Sunscreen protects you from harmful UV rays and keeps your skin looking smooth and young. –Exfoliating the skin is helpful to renew and replenish the skin. A soap with glycerin like Doy Care Aloe Vera as mentioned above or Jo Herbal – a soap, complete with the goodness of Neem, Tulsi, Aloe Vera and Glycerin is ideal to keep the skin looking fresh and young.
The secret to healthy skin is simple. Maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle by incorporating plenty of water with a good wholesome diet, some amount of exercise and of course nourish and pamper you skin with the products it requires. This will no doubt result in glowing fresh and young skin all year round.

  34. QUESTION:
Does anyone know a natural remedy for a colon cleanser?
I have been trying to gather the most natural remedies to cleanse my colon I feel very sluggish and backed up. I know my colon is a mess. What can I do?

    • ANSWER:
Fasting is the master remedy. Know how to do your fast and how to break it.

Fasting refers to complete abstinence from food for a short or long period for a specific purpose. The word is derived from the old English, ‘feastan’ which means to fast, observe, be strict. Fasting is nature’s oldest, most effective and yet least expensive method of treating disease. It is recognised as the cornerstone of natural healing. Dr. Arnold Eheret, the originator of the musculus diet healing system, describes it as " nature’s only universal and omnipotent remedy of healing" and "nature’s only fundamental law of all healing and curing."

Fasting in disease was advocated by the school of natural philosopher, Asclepiades, more than two thousand years ago. Throughout medical history, it has been regarded as one of the most dependable curative methods. Hippocrates, Galen, Paracelsus, and many other great authorities on medicine prescribed it. Many noted modern physicians have successfully employed this system of healing in the treatment of numerous diseases.

The common cause of all diseases is the accumulation of waste and poisonous matter in the body which results from overeating. The majority of persons eat too much and follow sedentary occupations which do not permit sufficient and proper exercise for utilisation of this large quantity of food. This surplus overburdens the digestive and assimilative organs and clogs up the system with impurities or poisons. Digestion and elimination become slow and the functional activity of the whole system gets deranged.

The onset of disease is merely the process of ridding the system of these impurities. Every disease can be healed by only one remedy-by doing just the opposite of what causes it, i.e., by reducing the food intake or fasting.

By depriving the body of food for a time, the organs of elimination such as the bowels, kidneys, skin, and lungs are given opportunity to expel, unhampered, the overload of accumulated waste from the system. Thus, fasting is merely the process of purification and an effective and quick method of cure. It assists nature in her continuous effort to expel foreign matter and disease producing waste from the body, thereby correcting the faults of improper diet and wrong living. It also leads to regeneration of the blood as well as the repair and regeneration of the various tissues of the body.

Duration: The duration of the fast depends upon the age of the patient, the nature of the disease and the amount and type of drugs previously used. The duration is important, because long periods of fasting can be dangerous if undertaken without competent professional guidance. It is, therefore, advisable to undertake a series of short fasts of two to three days and gradually increase the duration of each succeeding fast by a day or so. The period, however, should not exceed a week of total fasting at a time. This will enable the chronically sick body to gradually and slowly eliminate toxic waste matter without seriously affecting the natural functioning of the body. A correct mode of living and a balanced diet after the fast will restore vigour and vitality to the individual.

Fasting is highly beneficial in practically all kinds of stomach and intestinal disorders and in serious conditions of the kidneys and liver. It is a miracle cure for eczema and other skin diseases and offers the only hope of permanent cure in many cases. The various nervous disorders also respond favourably to this mode of treatment.

Fasting should, however, not be restored to in every illness. In cases of diabetes, advanced stages of tuberculosis, and extreme cases of neurasthenia, long fasts will be harmful. In most cases, however, no harm will accrue to fasting patients, provided they take rest, and are under proper professional care.

Methods: The best, safest and most effective method of fasting is juice fasting. Although the old classic form of fasting was a pure water fast, most of the leading authorities on fasting today agree that juice fasting is far superior to a water fast. According to Dr. Rangar Berg, the world -famous authority on nutrition, "During fasting the body burns up and excretes huge amounts of accumulated wastes. We can help this cleansing process by drinking alkaline juice instead of water while fasting ... Elimination of uric acid and other inorganic acids will be accelerated….. And sugars in juices will strengthen the heart... juice fasting is, therefore, the best form of fasting. " Vitamins, minerals, enzymes and trace elements in fresh, raw vegetable and fruit juices are extremely beneficial in normalising all the body processes. They supply essential elements for the body’s own healing activity and cell regeneration and thus speeding the recovery. All juices should be prepared from fresh fruit immediately before drinking. Canned or frozen juices should not be used.

A precautionary measure which must be observed in all cases of fasting is the complete emptying of the bowels at the beginning of the fast by enema so that the patient is not bothered by gas or decomposing matter formed from the excrements remaining in the body. Enemas should be administered at least every alternate day during the fasting period. The patient should get as much fresh air as possible and should drink plain lukewarm water when thirsty. Fresh juices may be diluted with pure water. The total liquid intake should be approximately six to eight glasses.

A lot of energy is spent during the fast in the process of eliminating accumulated poisons and toxic waste materials. It is, therefore, of utmost importance that the patients get as much physical rest and mental relaxation as possible during the fast. In cases of fasts in which fruit juices are taken, especially when fresh grapes, oranges or grapefruit are used exclusively, the toxic wastes enter the blood -stream rapidly, resulting in an overload of toxic matter, which affects normal bodily functions. This often results in dizzy spells, followed by diarrhoea and vomiting. If this physical reaction persists, it is advisable to discontinue the fast and take cooked vegetables containing adequate roughage such as spinach and beets until the body functioning returns to normal.

The overweight person finds it much easier to go without food. Loss of weight causes no fear and the patient’s attitude makes fasting almost a pleasure. The first day’s hunger pangs are perhaps the most difficult to bear. The craving for food will, however, gradually decrease as the fast progresses. Seriously sick persons have no desire for food and fasting comes naturally to them. The simple rule is to stop eating until the appetite returns or until one feels completely well.

Only very simple exercises like short walks may be undertaken during the fast. A warm water or neutral bath may be taken during the period. Cold baths are not advisable. Sun and air baths should be taken daily. Fasting sometimes produces a state of sleeplessness which can be overcome by a warm tub bath, hot water bottles at the feet and by drinking one or two glasses of hot water.

Benefits: There are several benefit of fasting. During a long fast, the body feeds upon its reserves. Being deprived of needed nutrients, particularly of protein and fats, it will burn and digest its own tissues by the process of autolysis or self-digestion. But it will not do so indiscriminately. The body will first decompose and burn those cells and tissues which are diseased, damaged, aged or dead. The essential tissues and vital organs, the glands, the nervous system and the brain are not damaged or digested in fasting. Here lies the secret of the effectiveness of fasting as a curative and rejuvenative method. During fasting, the building of new and healthy cells are speeded up by the amino acids released from the diseased cells. The capacity of the eliminative organs, that is, lungs, liver, kidneys, and the skin is greatly increased, as they are relieved of the usual burden of digesting food and eliminating the resultant wastes. They are, therefore, able to quickly expel old accumulated wastes and toxins.

Fasting affords a physiological rest to the digestive, assimilative and protective organs. As a result, the digestion of food and the utilisation of nutrients is greatly improved after fasting. The fast also exerts a normalising, stablising, and rejuvenating effect on all the vital physiological, nervous and mental functions.

Breaking of Fast: The success of the fast depends largely on how it is broken. his is the most significant phase. The main rules for breaking the fast are: do not overeat, eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly; and take several days for the gradual change to the normal diet. If the transition to eating solid foods is carefully planned, there will be no discomfort or damage. The patient should also continue to take rest during the transition period. The right food after a fast is as important and decisive for proper results as the fast itself.

      Hope this helps, Good Luck.

  35. QUESTION:
What treatment's are available for end stage liver disease?
My uncle has been diagnosed with end stage liver disease, he has been told that he has less than 6 months to live by two out of three doctors. One doctor has given him hope, what treatment's are out there? Herbal, or otherwise. Are there any recommendations on specialist to treat this anywhere? Would like to hear of any experience's good or bad, all comments are welcome.

    • ANSWER:
      Hi Desiree

Here are some remedies regarding liver disease. I believe the liver can be cured, but it wont be easy. Doing a liver cleanse (colon cleanse as well) is a must. A lot of different cleanses out there, so do your research. Here are some remedies and testimonials.

1.Castor Oil Fomentation: to draw out poisons and flush them out of liver etc. In order to get rid of hardened mucus in the body, which may appear as cysts, tumors or polyps, the following fomentation is to be used:

Soak a piece of outing flannel or baby's diaper in castor oil, squeeze slightly so it won't drip much, then place over entire frontal torso (neck to groin and side to side). Place a hot water bottle (over the castor oil application) over the liver area (the liver is on the right side just above the waist). It should be noted that a heating pad is not too highly endorsed here, unless a wet towel is placed between it and the skin--but even then, a wet heat (such as the hot water bottle) is best. Leave all this on for 1 1/2 hours; the hot water bottle may have to be refilled with hot water several times, because it cools rapidly. The next three days, over the same area covered by the outing flannel and castor oil, massage in circular motion toward the heart with olive oil for 5 to 10 minutes.

The seventh day is a day of rest, not only from the fomentation, but every part of the program, drinking only water the entire day--and every seventh day thereafter will be done the same way. On the eighth day then, begin again with the castor oil for three days and so forth, along with the mucusless diet. the herbs, etc., until healing is accomplished. In the use of the fomentation, the castor oil goes through the skin into the liver area and lymph glands and starts drawing out the poisons and flushing them out, while the olive oil goes in and heals and rebuilds new tissue. This procedure may have to be carried on between six weeks to six months to properly clean up the system, depending on the case.

2.Dr. Christopher's Liver-Gallbladder Formula: To speed up the blood purifying process, it is good to have a good clean liver and gall bladder area. When the liver does not function properly, the bile does not excrete freely into the intestinal tract, and so it passes off into the blood stream and throughout the rest of the system, causing a toxic condition called cholemia, causing indigestion, sluggishness, fatigue, constipation, upset stomach, chills, vomiting and fever. Why wait until it gets to this condition? A combination of barberry (or Oregon grape root), wild yam, cramp bark, fennel seed, ginger, catnip and peppermint--will help relieve this condition.

Suggested dose: 1/3 Cup or one or two capsules or tablets, 15 to 20 minutes before a meal.

3.Castor Oil: This oil can be obtained commercially and is used for the liver fomentation to open the capillaries of the liver. It is an excellent external healing oil for discomforts of windburn and is good for massage. But we never use castor oil internally or for a laxative. We often suggest opening up the capillaries of the constipated liver by applying a cotton or flannel cloth which has been soaked in hot castor oil over the area of the liver (on the right side of the body under the rib cage). Place a wet, wrung out hot towel over this cloth and a hot water bottle over that. Keep the fomentation warm for 20 minutes and then alternate with a cold towel fomentation warm for 20 minutes and then alternate with a cold towel fomentation for five minutes. Repeat the hot fomentation and then the cold. This can be continued for about an hour and a half. This has relieved pain of congestion in the liver and other organs such as the gall bladder and the pancreas.

4.Juices for Liver Trouble: Carrot-beet-cucumber, apple, dandelion, grapefruit, lemon.

5.Cayenne: There are safer ways to stimulate the gall bladder. One is by taking cayenne pepper orally. This has been reported in medical journals to trip the gall bladder reflex and promote the flow of bile naturally. As we mentioned before, bile is concentrated toxic material recycled by the liver. It acts like a natural laxative. The gall bladder (known in certain surgical circles as "the gold bladder", as we mentioned in an earlier newsletter, because of the tremendous amount of money spent on yearly gall bladder operations), is a reservoir which stores the bile for timed release into the digestive tract where it mixes with other digestive aids. When this organ is removed, the caustic bile drips directly into the duodenum and can cause duodenal ulcers. Dr. Christopher's Liver and Gall Bladder Formula, composed of barberry, wild yam, cramp bark, fennel seed, ginger, catnip and peppermint, can safely rebuild the diseased liver and gall bladder and help them to function normally because this formula is a specific food for these organs. The liver is recognized by medical science as a highly regenerative organ. it can rebuild itself even if there is only one-tenth of it functioning.

      Testimonials
1.Carrot Juice: One of the most common misconceptions regarding carrot juice is that one will start to develop orange or yellow colored skin after steadily drinking the juice because of the carotene content in the juice. This is not true. The development of yellowish skin is due to the fact that carrot juice is a great liver cleanser and the toxicity within the body is coming to the surface. Keep up with the carrot juice and the symptoms will soon disappear. The formerly constipated liver is reconditioned once again to experience a free flow of bile the excess of which is eliminated through our largest eliminative organ, the skin. I have personally experienced this phenomenon during a time when we prepared hundreds of gallons of carrot juice a week for sale. Because the juice was so abundant and available, I drank it for nearly every meal...sometimes instead of meals. My wife soon commented upon the yellow cast which my skin began to take on. I continued drinking the juice, however, and within a week my skin color was back to normal. But my liver had gone through a wonderful cleansing! It is often a surprise to me that the most learned of health authorities will try to sell you the carotene theory without any sort of proof, personal experience or background.

2.Dandelion: A classic story about the use of Dandelion is often repeated. Around the turn of the century, A Dr. Sparks wrote,"Fifteen years ago I was afflicted with the liver complaint. I used all my skill trying to cure it but failed. I then tried two physicians, Doctors Wilson and Jordan, but without success. An old nurse told me that Dandelion was an effective folk remedy for this disorder, so I decided to try it. Using Dandelion promptly restored me to health. It then became my favorite prescription for liver complaint, either by the simple extract of the herb or by taking a teacupful of a strong decoction of it twice a day. In almost every instance I have succeeded in restoring those who have used this plant."

There are plenty of answers to solution, so keep exploring.

Best of health to you and your uncle.

      Cheers

  37. QUESTION:
Will my metabolism be negatively affected of I juice for a week?
I have a juicer and recipes because it's something my mom wanted to try for a while and now I want to juice for a week to cleanse and drop unwanted bodyfat - paired with exercise of course. My concerns: will I mess up my metabolism? Will I lose muscle mass? Will it be beneficial to me?

This reduces the amount of time waste spends in the body and lowers toxicity.

  38. QUESTION:
What will help to loose weight fast over the next three weeks?
Other than of course low diet and execise, I know that.
Do any foods help cleanse you? Detoxes? Sauna?

    • ANSWER:
Your liver and kidneys cleanse you.

Detox diets are unhealthy. When you don't get enough food your body destroys muscle to get energy, which produces toxic byproducts. This is why cleanse or detox treatments can cause permanent damage to your organs.

The best way to lose weight is to cut out flour, butter, cheese, juice, soda, diet soda, protein drinks, and red meat. Combine this with walking five miles a day -maybe 1.5 hours of walking - and you will easily start losing weight.

  40. QUESTION:
I'd like to start a body cleanse/detox and don't know where to start?
I am interested in starting a nutritional body cleansing or body detox sort of program. I'd like to mainly focus on the digestive track, liver, intestines, etc. Does anyone know of a good plan or some sort of kit that I could get started with?? If so, can you give me links so I can read more about them?

    • ANSWER:
The BEST possible body clean/detox is the lemon fast.
You take 12 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
12 tablespoons grade B maple syrup
      1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
      60oz. water.
Mix them together and only drink it every day, dont eat or drink anything else for three days and it will definitly cleanse your whole body. You will feel so much better, and your body will thank you.

  41. QUESTION:
Can you use lemon juice for lemon detox diet?
I've been interested in trying the "master cleanse" lemon detox diet. There seems to be a consensus that lemons have to be fresh squeezed and not from concentrate, or the detox effects will not be present. However, I was wondering if organic lemon juice would provide the same results? Also, any personal tips/experience anyone has with the diet would be helpful. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
You are really just looking at a painful and drawn out way to empty your entire digestive tract.
The lemon detox/master cleanse diet you are referring to is a calorie deficit program.
You will lose weight on this diet. The average adult American has eight meals in their digestive system. Five more than they should. By going on a deficit diet like this you can lose around 10 pounds just by not eating. But it is only the weight of the food in your digestive system.
So it does work. but it does not change your size. Pour the soda out of a bottle and the shape of the bottle doesn't change does it? Once you start eating again you just replace all the missing food in the system.
The signal these starvation diets send the body is that there is no more food available. The body immediately stores any fat it can and begins to convert muscle and even organ tissue first for fuel instead of the stored fat. Stored fat will be used as a last resort when needed. The complete opposite of what you are trying to accomplish.
There is no build up of bad plaque, toxins, or sludge in a normal, reasonably healthy system.
If this was the case we would have people dying left and right from malnutrition since their small intestines couldn't absorb nutrients.
The majority of the water from food and what we drink is reabsorbed through the colon, if our colons were clogged we would all be walking around looking like sponges right?
Detoxing is ridding the system - liver, kidneys, and intestines of toxins both internal and environmental. Our liver and kidneys aren't clogged with toxins. Otherwise we would be dead. The liver does in fact get layered with fat if we become overweight.
Additionally, many toxins are stored in our fat cells so in order to truly "detox", you need to lose excess body fat as well.
We "cleanse and detox" naturally 24 hours a day through respiration, sweat, liver, and kidneys.
We can help by eating a healthy diet with minimal added sugar and salt. Lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grain foods, beans, peas, and brown rice keep a system as healthy as it can be.
      Minimal alcohol, caffeine, soda.
Read food labels. If you can't pronounce it, don't put it in your body.
A healthy high fiber diet works every time.
Increases the speed and efficiency of the digestive system and helps the body rid itself of both internal and environmental toxins.
Cleanses actually flush out the beneficial bacteria and enzymes in the digestive system.
Search "gut flora" to learn about the beneficial bacteria we need in our colon.
We have more beneficial bacteria in our digestive systems than all the cells in our bodies!
Did you know the digestive system is one of the largest contributors to our immune system?
They don't tell you about the gas, cramping, and bloating you will experience when you start eating again and the body has to rebuild this bacteria population.
Spend your money in the produce department.
      Good luck.

  42. QUESTION:
What are some home remedies to detox the body?
I have been experiencing adbominal bloating and problems with my skin lately. I have taken laxatives and herbal teas and nothing seems to help the bloatness. I want to cleanse my body from the inside out.......and just don't know how to do it!

    • ANSWER:
      Detoxification

      Home Remedies

The body tends to heal itself if given the right support. Fruit, vegetables and herbs are a gentle way to promote healing.

      Herbs used in Detoxification

      Dandelion
Dandelion is held in high regard as a detoxifier. Dandelion stimulates the elimination of toxins from every cell in the body. It is often used in comprehensive treatments for the liver. Dandelion also increases bile production and stimulates its flow to the gallbladder. The polysaccharide insulin found in dandelion is said to have white blood cell and immune-boosting properties.

      Licorice Root
Licorice Root is regarded as an important herb for treating kidney ailments and is also recommended for the liver and respiratory tract. Licorice Root's antioxidant, antiviral, and antibody-stimulating properties make it a liver protectant and detoxifier.

      Cascara Sagrada
Cascara Sagrada supports healthy bowel function by acting as a mild laxative. This herb can also be helpful in the treatment of gallstones and liver ailments. It also increases secretions of the stomach, liver and pancreas and is a potent cleansing herb.

      Black Walnut Hulls
Black Walnut Hulls are known to help remove parasites from the intestinal tract and facilitate the removal of toxic buildup and fatty materials.

      Milk Thistle
Milk thistle is best known as a liver tonic. The active ingredient is silymarin, which is reputed to repair liver damage due to alcohol, drugs (over-the-counter, prescription, and illicit), hepatitis, and exposure to toxins. In Germany, physicians are so impressed with the liver-protecting effects of milk thistle that they routinely prescribe this herb to patients with liver disorders. Milk thistle also strengthens and protects the liver in otherwise healthy people.

Fruit and vegetable juices assist in detoxification.
Fruit and vegetable juices are the cleansers, energizers, builders, and regenerators of the human system. A combination of either fresh, raw fruit or vegetable juices will supply all the enzymes, vitamins, minerals, protein and fats critical to increased vitality! By adding live juices to one's diet as a daily routine, many have experienced a rejuvenating effect and healing of various illnesses such as cancer, leukemia, arthritis, high blood pressure, kidney disorders, skin infections, liver disorders, alcoholism and smoking. Supplying the body with easily-absorbed nutrients, while the body is cleansing itself in the fasting state, avoids the dangers of total abstinence associated with water fasting. Be confident that this method is both safe and beneficial.

Grapes: There are between 40 and 50 different varieties of grapes that come in a rainbow of greens, whites, reds and purples. Grapes fill the mouth with an explosion of delicious flavors. Grapes are an excellent source of potassium, which encourage an alkaline blood balance and also stimulate the kidneys and regulate heartbeat. The restorative power of grapes is phenomenal, cleansing the liver and removing the uric acid from the body. In France, many people go on a grape fast during harvest time. Studies have shown a lower incidence of cancer in the areas of France where this grape fast is practiced yearly.

Asparagus: Available in early spring. It can be expensive due to the difficulty in cultivating. Its claim to fame is the amino acid aspargagine that is destroyed by cooking. Aspargagine is a strong diuretic, stimulating the kidneys. Asparagus is a great blood cleanser and excellent for healthy bowel maintenance.

Parsley: Ancient civilizations have used parsley in medications and in poultices on wounds, boils, cysts and to draw the pus out of an infected cut. Parsley is one of the highest sources of life-giving chlorophyll, which acts like iron to oxidize the blood. Chlorophyll will help neutralize the strong odor of garlic, and is used in chewing gum to sweeten breath. It is a cleanser of the kidneys, liver, and urinary tract. Parsley is effective for upset stomachs by stimulating digestive enzymes. Excellent for the colon by encouraging the peristaltic wave in the intestines.

Spinach: Never cook spinach. Oxalic acid is destroyed when heat transforms it into oxalic acid crystals that are harmful to the kidneys. It also binds to iron, making it unabsorbable.

      Sweet Potatoes
Besides being a yummy source of beta-carotene, sweet potatoes and yams have an unusual health side effect: they can remove heavy metals from the body. In fact, doctors in the Soviet Union have prescribed a diet that's heavy on the spuds for factory workers continually exposed to toxic chemicals.

Sweet potatoes contain something called "phytochelatins". This helps them bind to harmful substances like copper, cadmium, mercury and lead which most of us are exposed to on a regular basis from air pollution. The phytochelatins help pass these toxins out of the body."

      Cranberry Juice
A powerful healing tonic filled with quinine, which changes to hippuric acid in the liver. Hippuric acid is able to assist in the removal of purines, uric acid, urea and toxic build-up in the prostate gland, testicles, kidneys and bladder.

  43. QUESTION:
I want to do a juice fast, master cleanse diet and water fast. In what order should I do this?
I want to start out on the easiest, least intense fast, then work myself to the next one, and then finally into the water fast. What order should I do this in? I dont want to just jump into water fasting, so I think this will be best. I already have all the juice and master cleanse stuff bought, cost quite a lot of money so Im GOING to do it.

    • ANSWER:
Whichever one you decide to do, at least 3 days before (recommended a week) try and cut out meat and/or dairy from your diet. It takes a lot for the stomach to digest these types of foods, so by taking this away is a helpful jump-start for you digestive system, and to get your tastebuds used to new foods. A day or two before I'd go strictly to raw foods.. cut out all processed stuff, this will help with your system as well. It has already started to undergo the cleansing process before you've even started! How cool is that?
I'm not sure about the order or master cleanse/juice fast... I don't think it will really matter. Never thought about doing them back to back... I'd suggest the master cleanse first, since it is meant to clean out your entire system. The whole point of the cleanse is to "detox" your body from all the junk we've put into it over the years (do you know that we can hold up to 7 lbs of unnecessary build-up in our colon? We've got build-up everywhere, our intenstines, our livers, etc)... so I'd cleanse first. Then I'd reintroduce the body with good, whole foods... cue the juice fast. So now your body's all clean, you'd only want to put good things into it. Your tastebuds will have already changed, and sweet/salty/processed foods won't seem as appetizing. The juice would mainly serve as a stepping stone into a healthy lifestyle! (Note: when you do come off the fast, don't opt for that cheeseburger you've been jonesing for... your stomach will NOT know what to do with it! So not only will you have serious indigestion, it will be a huge step backward into what you've been trying to remedy in the first place!) After the juice fast, introduce healthy, raw foods again for the first day or two (depends on how long you're doing this fast), and then add in a food group each subsequent day (meat, dairy, etc.).
Yes, that's the order I'd do it. Cleanse, reintroduce... and when you're up for it... a water fast. (But please: save the water fast for down the line. Your body needs to recover and get back to proper function!)
Good luck, and have fun! :)

  44. QUESTION:
How can I get the Advocare Herbal Cleanse down?
I started day 1 of the 24 day challenge today. I found it extremely difficult to get the fiber drink down. It tasted terrible and the texture was thick (I have the citrus flavor). Any suggestions on how to make this drink bearable for me? Maybe some kind of low fat juice? Please Help!!!

    • ANSWER:
The best way to cleanse and detox is to get hold of a liver. Oh, you have one? Great.
Now just stand there and let it detoxify your body. Partner it with some kidneys and you've got the most efficient body cleanse and detox system known to man.
And you don't even have to wait for it to come in the mail, or give a credit card number!
We "cleanse and detox" naturally 24 hours a day through respiration, sweat, liver, kidneys, urine, and feces.
We can help by eating a healthy diet with minimal added sugar and salt.
Lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grain foods, lean meat cuts, fresh fish, beans, peas, brown rice, raw nuts, and barley keep a system as healthy and as clean as it can be.
Spend your money in the produce department to speed your detox.
      Good luck and good health.

I know several people that have tried Herbalife, Isagenix, Nanci, Nutrilite, Advocare, and the newest Healthy People Co. brand of weight loss supplements.
They all weight the same or more than when they tried them.
Alli is the only over the counter weight loss product approved by the FDA.
There are only two prescription weight loss medications approved. Do you think that if any of them REALLY worked we would have a billion a year industry in "weight loss" supplements?
The big three pharmaceuticals would dominate the market.
Approved or otherwise, none of these weight loss supplements guarantee anything unless you establish a healthy diet and exercise program.
So why not just establish a healthy diet and exercise program and keep your money?
You will be spending somewhere between and per day on a products that are not approved or guaranteed to do anything!
The only weight loss supplement I recommend is a basic multivitamin.
0 to 0 per month would get you a premier spa membership and the positive feeling that comes from working out and feeling healthier.
All of the above mentioned diet products are "multi level marketing" or "work from home" schemes. I think these products are the worst since they exploit both the desires of people to lose weight and to make money.
Hopefully you haven't signed up yet.

I lived in a very nice area of Phoenix for a time. 90% of the "make money from home" signs along the roads were Herbalife when you called and finally got them to tell you. These companies are more concerned with profits than weight loss. As are all the MLMs.

  45. QUESTION:
How effective are colon cleansers for losing weight?
I already eat practically a perfect diet, consisting of mainly fruits, veggies, nuts, beans, whole grains, and probiotics. I also exersise, however, I'm still not as thin as I'd like to be. Would purchasing a quality colon cleanser from Whole Foods do the trick? I also want to start drinking prune juice regularly. How effective are colon cleansers? What was your experience with them?

    • ANSWER:
      Not.
A study of the living human anatomy reveals that the colon is at no time dirty or clogged. Colon cleansing is known to disrupt the balance between natural enzymes and bacteria in the digestive tract.

Anyone interested in detoxifying their body might think about paying a little more attention to their body and less attention to the people trying to get their money. The body already has nature's most effective detoxification system. It's called the liver. The liver changes the chemical structure of foreign compounds so they can be filtered out of the blood by the kidneys, which then excrete them in the urine.

  46. QUESTION:
Is it ok to mix whey protein when on a juice fast?
I am going on a small juice fast. Preferably about 20 days or less. I know some fruits and veggies have protein but I was just carious to get my full amount of protein, is it safe or ok to mix whey protein into my juice? Thanks

    • ANSWER:
What makes you think all all liquid diet is of any benefit?
This reduces the amount of time waste spends in the body and lowers toxicity.

  47. QUESTION:
How to detox body before starting a diet?
Ive decided on saturday i am going to detox my body before starting loosing weight. I want to do this so my body can be fresh and get rid of all the bad stuff i have been eating recently. Obviously you need to drink alot of water but what else helps you to cleanse yourself from the inside? Thanks

    • ANSWER:
I, for one, believe wholeheartedly in detox. But, only in the proper way otherwise it may make matters worse. Many folks assume that the body is quite capable of ridding itself of the plethora of "junk" it comes in contact with and come out smelling like roses - that's just plain ludicrous. Yes, the Supreme Being did create a wondrous marvel, our body, as we are designed with organs and systems (colon, liver, kidneys, bladder, lymph and skin) that work around the clock to rid the body of "toxins" (cellular waste, digestive waste, foreign proteins, heavy metals, etc.) that occur due to what we eat, drink, breathe, put on our skin and even from the stresses of our daily lives. Problems will and do arise when our organs/systems are overloaded with work, impeding proper function and elimination. Essentially, If our bodies could handle all of this, there would be no sickness and disease, point blank!

When we feel below par or have symptoms of dis-ease, we are experiencing the effects of the build-up of toxins. This is another name for "acidosis" of the body. And, this is what needs to be addressed and reversed through a proper detox. Most people get it wrong when they think to "purge" the body of toxins with the many detox diets, programs or pills out in the marketplace that may do more harm than good. What needs to be done and is the real meaning of detox - Alkalize! This is the golden key that opens the door to health and vitality.

Here's what happens: Acidosis causes obstructions in either one or more of the 3 energy flows of the body - blood, nerve and lymph. Looking at the lymphatic system (which is the main system that is stressed), lymph fluid should be free flowing towards the kidneys that should filter out the acids. With the accumulation of too many acids (acidosis), the lymph fluid becomes cationic - an environment where things start to get sticky and coagulate, allowing very little to be eliminated. Any good detox regimen should aid in removing the obstructions by changing the body fluids to alkaline. This is a major start down the road to repair and rebuilding of the body.

Most detox diets/programs can be unhealthy and don't work only because they are not alkalizing. In many cases, they are designed to purge the body of so-called toxins. When purging is involved, what is happening is your body is being forced to function the way it should be functioning on its own. So, the solution to this inability to rid of something foreign in the body (obstructions) is to strengthen the cells so that they may perform this task of elimination optimally. Now, there are instances that a very "constipated" organ/system needs a little nudge and this nudge should be gotten through a natural means and for a short length of time, such as with the use of herbs - an alkalizing means…. not with chemicals that are acid-forming, making matters worse.

Drinking tons of water to "flush" is not an advisable approach to detox. This is because, if you're acidic, your body will retain water as it tries to "put out the fire" of acidosis and bloating is experienced in most cases (and especially since most of the water people drink is acidic!) This approach holds no water (pun intended) since when you release your bladder, it is usually clear after drinking lots of water. The fact is, if your kidneys are filtering the lymph optimally, you would have cloudy and flakey pee.

In essence, your diet should be your detox! A detox diet should include 80% (total calories) raw fruits or freshly-made fruit juices, 10 - 15% greens and 5 - 10% essential fatty acids. Meat, dairy products and even grain products hinder the natural detoxifying processes and should be totally avoided. They are acid-forming or congesting in the body. If your body is very acidic (sick and diseased) adding tissue-specific herbs or herbal formulas are a great plus. Even animals in the wild know which herbs to consume when they feel below par! By following this way of healthy eating, your body's elimination systems will be able to function optimally! Detoxing any other way sets you up for failure since it's most likely not an alkalizing protocol.

  48. QUESTION:
Can I completely rid my body of toxins over a period of time?
When I was in high school I drank extremely excessively and I think my kidney's and liver may be damaged. I want to know if I can strengthen or rehabilitate my organs as long as I do not binge or drink excessively anymore and by taking vitamins, eating healthy, and being balanced.

    • ANSWER:
Your last word says it all -- balanced. Do some reading and find herbals that support the elimination system. Look especially at aloe vera juice. Also, anything green supports the liver -- the darker green, the better. Look at ways to balance the alkaline/acid content of your body, as well. You can also buy pre-packaged total body cleanses at the health food store for about .

  49. QUESTION:
How often do I do a Gall Bladder Cleansing?
When using Olive-Oil and Lemon-Juice for the removeal of the Gall Stones.

    • ANSWER:
First of all, gall bladder removal can be avoided all together if people would pay attention to how they eat.

Secondly, in answer to your question: http://www.relfe.com/gall_stone_cleanse.html Go by this.

As far as how people eat, there was the Adkins Diet craze and more people had their gall bladder removed because of it than any other time in our history.

      Why?

Because, they didn't read the book! It clearly stated to eat fruits and vegetables, yet people mainly ate way too much meat. Thus, gall bladder infections from an acidic environment that promotes infections in the gall bladder.

If you eat a balanced diet and stay away from junk and saturated fats, your gall bladder will function properly.

The liver is what benefits from lemon juice dash of sea salt and plain water. Olive oil is a fatty acid and promotes a bowell movement. Fiber also takes stress off of the liver. I've actuallly seen Hep C patients viral loads go down by doing these things.

My friends father was the first bioanalyst in the State of California. The kids grew up with beakers and centrifuges. They became pharmaceutical reps and nurse practitioners. They were taught to cleanse the liver and gall bladder with what you are talking about.

I think from the nay sayers its the mechanism by which this works that is forgotten knowledge. They know not what they say when they say its not necessary, and yes... It may not be necessary for some, but with our modern refined diets, it has become more of a need once in a while and if the method can be a preventative, then so be it.

Depending on the circumstances, a food combining vegan who gets constant fiber in the diet doesn't necessarily need the same kind of cleansing as someone who eats fried fatty foods with a distended colon problem.

Everyone is different, yet everyone deserves whole foods and good nutrition to strengthen the immune system, to have a properly functioning digestive system and endocrine system.

The entire idea is to prevent oneself from falling off the cliff in the first place and if a harmless cleanse with a non toxic home remedy helps, so what!

I suggest that if you have gall stones and you have proof in you rmedical charts that you have gall stones, do the cleanse and go back and get another medical assesment and then let us all know if your gall stones have reduced in number or are gone.

  50. QUESTION:
Has anyone tried the lemon juice detox and be successful?
I recently stumbled upon the lemon juice detox diet on the livestrong website. I am currently doing a cleanse and after I am done with the pills for this one, I want to try out the lemon juice detox. I know its just a quick fix, but It will jump start my diet as I have 30lbs to lose (or more)!

    • ANSWER:
Nothing with the words "cleanse" or "detox" should be taken very seriously as a proven method of weight loss or weight management. While many people make outrageous claims about the efficacy of these programs, there is no backing in medical science to prove these claims.

The liver NATURALLY cleans the system daily -- that's what it does. The major component in all of these "cleansing" testimonials is that the people have cleaned up their diet in conjunction with these "detox" programs.

That, by nature of pure logic, will of course work. If you have a filtration system that's working daily, and you stop adding more sludge, then naturally, the end product will be cleaner and the filter won't have to work so hard once all the dirt and grime is gone from the source.

Cleanse/detox diets work more as a placebo for the participant, a tangible sign of committing to eating more natural foods, learning how to cook at home, and avoiding boxed frozen meals, fast food, and questionable cafeteria insta-meals.

Learning to cook and shop for natural ingredients (meaning fresh veggies that you cut up and put into your dishes yourself instead of opening a box of dried mix) will do the same thing, but without the alt-med lifestyle required.

The downside of "cleanse/detox" is that they often unnecessarily restrict certain components of a healthy diet, so while it may aid in removing the garbage from your system by mere virtue of not adding more, it also tends to prevent the intake of necessary nutrients, like protein and healthy dietary fats. They also cite ancient Asian lifestyles but completely misinterpret and misrepresent an actual Asian diet as well as the reasons why.

Miso soup is not a complete dinner for a Japanese household, and it never was. Ancient Asian populations were also wracked with poverty and constant civil war, so if there was a dietary restriction back then, it was due to necessity, not out of choice. Neither is green tea.

A sensible, balanced diet with all things in moderation may not be as much fun or exciting, but it's what works.
