      I did the liver cleanse 5 times in 4 years. I have a very "lazy" gallbladder. I used to have migraines every other day, or one week in a row, tinnitus, and not to mention I was scheduled for surgery(gallbladder).After the first cleanse I felt awesome, and I got rid all of those symptoms.     I read a book and I think my stalled weight loss despite Lap Band surgery, low calorie, lots of exercise and small portions could be due to fatty liver. Want to cleanse it.       Baa-Baa is right regarding the liver cleanse... His liver will cleanse itself if he can just quit tormenting it.

      What is very important is, that he taper down a bit before going cold turkey. Going from 20 drinks a day to zero all at once is very dangerous if it isn't done with medication. Benzo's, Librium, Valium, Xanax etc will greatly reduce the trauma of quitting. Doctors are wary about prescribing these meds to someone who admits he is still drinking, but if you go with him to his doctor and promise you will only allow him to take these meds if he is sober, the doc may agree to give him some.

      Without Benzo's, he must taper back for a period of about a week if he doesn't want to risk seizures and possible death. Get some non-alcoholic beer and let him start on this during the day or early evening. Allow him only 12 light beers per night for 2 days or so; then 8, then 6. Once he's down to 6 light beers per night for a few days, it's probably safe to make the jump to sobriety.

      He should be taking vitamin B-Complex, before, during, and after his reduction/quitting. This can prevent some of the more dangerous effects of withdrawal. If he becomes very ill, or acts strangely during this process, he must be seen by a doctor at once.

      Fast food is just really bad. I used to eat a lot of fast food, thinking it was cheap and not really that bad. But then I learned more about what is in there. For a healthy person, fast food is bad. But it is really bad if your body is chronically ill. Super Size Me was the first movie/documentary that opened my eyes. Scary stuff.

      By the way, if you're open to it, liver cleanse and liver supplements can help to heal the liver. Curezone.com has a lot of information or there are many other sites as well.

      No, you cannot flush gallstones at all. Those are ingredients for a salad dressing.

      If it were that easy, don't you believe that American insurance companies would force patients to use that inexpensive cure instead of going through costly medical surgery? Guess what: there are no peer-reviewed medical studies to show the efficacy of gallstone flushing. It doesn't work!

      Cholecystectomy and ERCP are the only cures for gallstones. They are relatively safe and effective where called for. Some people can survive their entire lives with gallstones. It all depends upon your individual situation and diet.

    True ADHD is usually caused by the mother eating and drinking too much sugar and caffeine. Stop drink mountain dew and whatever while pregnant. Stop smoking/drinking, dying hair. Sacrifice a little for your baby.

      There have actually been a lot of studies that have shown that Fish Oil can help with ADD/ADHD. It seems too simple, and that may be one reason it wasn't really looked at closely for this, but I wasn't surprised it would help when I thought about it. The EPA and DHA in Fish Oil help with all sorts of things including heart health, skin health, and brain health.       Give it a try... it's economical, safe, and easy. Just make sure that the company you get it from uses Molecular Distillation because that's currently the only safe way to remove any trace contaminants of any heavy metals. Of course, if you aren't sure about the dosage or the benefits, you may want to consult with a holistic doctor, as they may have other additional options available to them.

      There are also a lot of people who have found some relief from limiting sugar, artificial colors/flavorings, and going with less (or no) processed food to take away those possible causes as well.     Is there an inexpensive home remedy for colon cleansing?
    I've been doing a little research on those colon cleansing kits and they seem like the way to go for a healthier system. I work out regularily & have begun eating better. These kits are believed to eliminate toxicity and waste from the body, reduce stress from our vital organs (liver, colon, kidneys, blood, skin, etc.) and support the rejuvenation of the immune system. This all sounds great, B U T.....EXPENSIVE!! I just wondered if anyone knew any safe home remedies that might work as well?

      Psyllium hulls in powder form that you mix with water 2 to 3 times per day, drink lots of water, eath lot of fiber and raw vegetables, take acidophilous. this would be a good minimum to start. After about 2 weeks you can reduce psyllium to teice daily and discontinue the acidophilous.

      You may wish to do a juice fast for the first day or two if you have a juicer and can access fresh vegetable juice, not v8 or sugary fruit juices.

      This is not the most complete or exhaustive cleanse but it is a good basic start and the psylliun, water, fiber, vegetables part of it can be maintained for life. In the long run cunsistent healthy practices win out over occasional extremes anyway.

      The answer is YES! But, only if it's a GOOD ONE. They are not all created equal. You def. want to eliminate the built up toxins and spoiled food and things that have gotten stuck in your colon over the years. The ony way for that to happen is to go #2.       I've been cleansing my colon for over 15 years and happen to have used ALOT of different products.

      There are only a handful of good ones. The one I used to use for many years is "Sonnes" #7 and #9 but with all the contraversy around the "bentonite" I'm not sure I would recommend it.       Fasting is the master remedy. Know how to do your fast and how to break it.

      Fasting refers to complete abstinence from food for a short or long period for a specific purpose. The word is derived from the old English, ‘feastan’ which means to fast, observe, be strict. Fasting is nature’s oldest, most effective and yet least expensive method of treating disease. It is recognised as the cornerstone of natural healing. Dr. Arnold Eheret, the originator of the musculus diet healing system, describes it as " nature’s only universal and omnipotent remedy of healing" and "nature’s only fundamental law of all healing and curing."

      Fasting in disease was advocated by the school of natural philosopher, Asclepiades, more than two thousand years ago. Throughout medical history, it has been regarded as one of the most dependable curative methods. Hippocrates, Galen, Paracelsus, and many other great authorities on medicine prescribed it. Many noted modern physicians have successfully employed this system of healing in the treatment of numerous diseases.

      The common cause of all diseases is the accumulation of waste and poisonous matter in the body which results from overeating. The majority of persons eat too much and follow sedentary occupations which do not permit sufficient and proper exercise for utilisation of this large quantity of food. And sugars in juices will strengthen the heart... juice fasting is, therefore, the best form of fasting. " Vitamins, minerals, enzymes and trace elements in fresh, raw vegetable and fruit juices are extremely beneficial in normalising all the body processes. They supply essential elements for the body’s own healing activity and cell regeneration and thus speeding the recovery. All juices should be prepared from fresh fruit immediately before drinking. Canned or frozen juices should not be used.

      A precautionary measure which must be observed in all cases of fasting is the complete emptying of the bowels at the beginning of the fast by enema so that the patient is not bothered by gas or decomposing matter formed from the excrements remaining in the body. Enemas should be administered at least every alternate day during the fasting period. The patient should get as much fresh air as possible and should drink plain lukewarm water when thirsty. Fresh juices may be diluted with pure water. The total liquid intake should be approximately six to eight glasses.

      A lot of energy is spent during the fast in the process of eliminating accumulated poisons and toxic waste materials. It is, therefore, of utmost importance that the patients get as much physical rest and mental relaxation as possible during the fast. In cases of fasts in which fruit juices are taken, especially when fresh grapes, oranges or grapefruit are used exclusively, the toxic wastes enter the blood -stream rapidly, resulting in an overload of toxic matter, which affects normal bodily functions. This often results in dizzy spells, followed by diarrhoea and vomiting. If this physical reaction persists, it is advisable to discontinue the fast and take cooked vegetables containing adequate roughage such as spinach and beets until the body functioning returns to normal.

      The overweight person finds it much easier to go without food. Loss of weight causes no fear and the patient’s attitude makes fasting almost a pleasure. The first day’s hunger pangs are perhaps the most difficult to bear. The craving for food will, however, gradually decrease as the fast progresses. Seriously sick persons have no desire for food and fasting comes naturally to them. The simple rule is to stop eating until the appetite returns or until one feels completely well.

      Only very simple exercises like short walks may be undertaken during the fast. A warm water or neutral bath may be taken during the period. Cold baths are not advisable. Sun and air baths should be taken daily. Fasting sometimes produces a state of sleeplessness which can be overcome by a warm tub bath, hot water bottles at the feet and by drinking one or two glasses of hot water.

      Benefits: There are several benefit of fasting. During a long fast, the body feeds upon its reserves. Being deprived of needed nutrients, particularly of protein and fats, it will burn and digest its own tissues by the process of autolysis or self-digestion. But it will not do so indiscriminately. The body will first decompose and burn those cells and tissues which are diseased, damaged, aged or dead. The essential tissues and vital organs, the glands, the nervous system and the brain are not damaged or digested in fasting. Here lies the secret of the effectiveness of fasting as a curative and rejuvenative method. During fasting, the building of new and healthy cells are speeded up by the amino acids released from the diseased cells. The capacity of the eliminative organs, that is, lungs, liver, kidneys, and the skin is greatly increased, as they are relieved of the usual burden of digesting food and eliminating the resultant wastes. They are, therefore, able to quickly expel old accumulated wastes and toxins.

      Fasting affords a physiological rest to the digestive, assimilative and protective organs. As a result, the digestion of food and the utilisation of nutrients is greatly improved after fasting. The fast also exerts a normalising, stablising, and rejuvenating effect on all the vital physiological, nervous and mental functions.

      Breaking of Fast: The success of the fast depends largely on how it is broken. his is the most significant phase. The main rules for breaking the fast are: do not overeat, eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly; and take several days for the gradual change to the normal diet. If the transition to eating solid foods is carefully planned, there will be no discomfort or damage. The patient should also continue to take rest during the transition period. The right food after a fast is as important and decisive for proper results as the fast itself.

    What treatment's are available for end stage liver disease?
    My uncle has been diagnosed with end stage liver disease, he has been told that he has less than 6 months to live by two out of three doctors. One doctor has given him hope, what treatment's are out there? Herbal, or otherwise. Are there any recommendations on specialist to treat this anywhere? Would like to hear of any experience's good or bad, all comments are welcome.

      Hi Desiree

      Here are some remedies regarding liver disease. I believe the liver can be cured, but it wont be easy. Doing a liver cleanse (colon cleanse as well) is a must. A lot of different cleanses out there, so do your research. Here are some remedies and testimonials.

      1.Castor Oil Fomentation: to draw out poisons and flush them out of liver etc. In order to get rid of hardened mucus in the body, which may appear as cysts, tumors or polyps, the following fomentation is to be used:

      Soak a piece of outing flannel or baby's diaper in castor oil, squeeze slightly so it won't drip much, then place over entire frontal torso (neck to groin and side to side). Place a hot water bottle (over the castor oil application) over the liver area (the liver is on the right side just above the waist). It should be noted that a heating pad is not too highly endorsed here, unless a wet towel is placed between it and the skin--but even then, a wet heat (such as the hot water bottle) is best. Leave all this on for 1 1/2 hours; the hot water bottle may have to be refilled with hot water several times, because it cools rapidly. The next three days, over the same area covered by the outing flannel and castor oil, massage in circular motion toward the heart with olive oil for 5 to 10 minutes.

      The seventh day is a day of rest, not only from the fomentation, but every part of the program, drinking only water the entire day--and every seventh day thereafter will be done the same way. On the eighth day then, begin again with the castor oil for three days and so forth, along with the mucusless diet. the herbs, etc., until healing is accomplished. In the use of the fomentation, the castor oil goes through the skin into the liver area and lymph glands and starts drawing out the poisons and flushing them out, while the olive oil goes in and heals and rebuilds new tissue. This procedure may have to be carried on between six weeks to six months to properly clean up the system, depending on the case.

      2.Dr. Christopher's Liver-Gallbladder Formula: To speed up the blood purifying process, it is good to have a good clean liver and gall bladder area. When the liver does not function properly, the bile does not excrete freely into the intestinal tract, and so it passes off into the blood stream and throughout the rest of the system, causing a toxic condition called cholemia, causing indigestion, sluggishness, fatigue, constipation, upset stomach, chills, vomiting and fever. Why wait until it gets to this condition? A combination of barberry (or Oregon grape root), wild yam, cramp bark, fennel seed, ginger, catnip and peppermint--will help relieve this condition.

      Suggested dose: 1/3 Cup or one or two capsules or tablets, 15 to 20 minutes before a meal.

      3.Castor Oil: This oil can be obtained commercially and is used for the liver fomentation to open the capillaries of the liver. It is an excellent external healing oil for discomforts of windburn and is good for massage. But we never use castor oil internally or for a laxative. We often suggest opening up the capillaries of the constipated liver by applying a cotton or flannel cloth which has been soaked in hot castor oil over the area of the liver (on the right side of the body under the rib cage). Place a wet, wrung out hot towel over this cloth and a hot water bottle over that. Keep the fomentation warm for 20 minutes and then alternate with a cold towel fomentation warm for 20 minutes and then alternate with a cold towel fomentation for five minutes. Repeat the hot fomentation and then the cold. This can be continued for about an hour and a half. This has relieved pain of congestion in the liver and other organs such as the gall bladder and the pancreas.

      4.Juices for Liver Trouble: Carrot-beet-cucumber, apple, dandelion, grapefruit, lemon.

      5.Cayenne: There are safer ways to stimulate the gall bladder. One is by taking cayenne pepper orally. This has been reported in medical journals to trip the gall bladder reflex and promote the flow of bile naturally. As we mentioned before, bile is concentrated toxic material recycled by the liver. It acts like a natural laxative. The gall bladder (known in certain surgical circles as "the gold bladder", as we mentioned in an earlier newsletter, because of the tremendous amount of money spent on yearly gall bladder operations), is a reservoir which stores the bile for timed release into the digestive tract where it mixes with other digestive aids. When this organ is removed, the caustic bile drips directly into the duodenum and can cause duodenal ulcers. I have personally experienced this phenomenon during a time when we prepared hundreds of gallons of carrot juice a week for sale. Because the juice was so abundant and available, I drank it for nearly every meal...sometimes instead of meals. My wife soon commented upon the yellow cast which my skin began to take on.       For colon cleansing, senna tea with plenty of warm water is very effective. as for detox tea, I'm sorry but I don't know--but the herbs milk thistle, dandelion, yellow dock and burdock have a beneficial effect on the liver. I don't know if they cleanse it, but they apparently stop damage from occurring. I was showing increasing liver damage in lab tests until I started taking these herbs and then the damage stopped and my liver enzymes returned to normal.

    We live in Northern VA and my cat needs urgent care for her teeth but i asked a place and 0 is what they charge.       Be careful about who you go to: some vets that advertise 'low cost' services have lists of complaints with the Better Business Bureau pages long! Many use antiquated equipment and older style, less safe anesthetics to keep those costs down, and have lost more pet's lives while under sedation because of this!       Don't drink epsom salts. Read the label for warnings. The olive oil and grapefruit juice won't hurt you unless you have an allergy or are taking medication that is incompatible with grapefruit juice (some meds should not be taken with grapefruit juice.)

      You can't detox your body. You need to find better resources for information.

      "Detox" is short for detoxification and detoxification is a natural process involving your liver and kidneys and there is nothing you can do to effect it. It is impossible to detoxify a human once the toxin is in the blood with the possible exception of kidney dialysis, kelation therapy, and other expensive medical modalities. Currently "detox" is a faddist word, relatively meaningless, and is used to express that which the users cannot otherwise express because of ignorance of because the expression would be patently false.

      Detox diets, cleanses, and supplements don't work. There is no diet which will cause your body to get rid of toxins, heavy metals, poisonous by-products from smoking, drugs, etc. And cleanses for the purpose of weight loss don't work because they can only eliminate water and small amounts of waste which the body will replace very quickly.

    How many colonic should a person have?
    How do you know if you need addition colonics? If your diet does not consist of a lot red meat- but instead, fruits vegatables and grains, should'nt this be good internal cleansing? My patient had a colonic, not much was elimitated. Later when she had to eliminate, there was just bile. She was told she needed additional cleansings, thats is the reason why there waas no actual stool.

      One can safely undergo multiple colon irrigations (colonics). When performed by a certified colon therapist, it is a safe, and non-addicting procedure that often helps cure many of a personas ails that are caused by chronic constipation.

    How many days is it safe to fast from food?
    I am an emotional eater who has 2 basic levels, either can stay away from food completely, or binge. I have found fasting for a few days a week has really helped me gain control of myself, and then can eat healthy for several days afterward, but then bad cycle begins again, so I've started fasting weekly to keep the control. but am wondering howmany days can you do it safely.My deductible on health insurance is too high to try to see dr to ask. My stats are female age 41, weight 340 lbs, have lost 25 in past 3 months. no known health problems yet(the blood pressure cuff at walmart I check all the time and I am in the good range, amazing for someone at my weight). For physical activity I have a office job so I sit alot, but do regular housekeeping stuff and take care of family, don't sit on butt and watch tv all night. Do yard work on weekends and have a 2nd job 1 day a week that is driving. Walk about 3 times a week for a mile but not on days I am fasting.

      Our good friend Gary Y is partially correct, and partially incorrect. There is a lot of junk science nowadays being used as solid foundation to validate many of the "black holes" in holistic medicine. And much of what has been attributed to normal body physiology is rampant speculation which benefit only a few and harm the rest.

      But the world of metabolic toxins is not exclusive of the field of toxicology, as we know it from universities. Toxins produced by the body as a normal result of our daily wear-out, are real and if allowed to accumulate unduly may result in a set of processes which could jeopardize our biology.

      Of course, it should be understood that regular cell detoxification is something our body does of and by itself unassisted. However, when our false lifestyle and poor dietary habits enervate those organs and systems in charge of keeping our metabolism in tune and in shape, toxins tend to build up gradually to the point that, in time and if unchecked, will disrupt those organs and systems' delicate balance.

      I am trying to put in simple terms what others have taken the time to elaborate extensively in biomedical books and magazines. But the reason why many serious and honest truth-seekers, like our friend Gary, end up rejecting the whole idea is because the way many otherwise sound physicians have approached the issue--so biased and business-oriented--is disheartening to say the least.

      Our whole system is constantly striving to keep a balance between cellular repair mechanisms and detox ones.       But going on the same track as Gary, I would discourage anyone trying to assist his/her own body in its normal detox process by buying unproven "magic formulas" that aim at nothing, and that confuse those searching for honest answers when it comes to health and healthy living.

      There are many physicians who have done fine research on this field, whose publications, though many times ignored, have contributed to a better understanding of the whole issue.

      In the other hand, there is not such a thing as a Master Cleanser. If your goal is to "cleanse" your system in a general way--assuming you're not afflicted by none of the many chronic diseases so common today--then your safest route would be to fast on juices from fruits or vegetables rich in sulfur, or magnesium, or both, for no more than 36 hours, which will help your body in many ways.     Question for pharmacist or doctor re: medication for cat tapeworm for humans?
    The over the counter ones like Vermox don't mention tapeworm. Do they kill tapeworms or not? My cat has tapeworm and my kids have close contact with her. I've treated the cat.       Over the counter products may kill the worms but they won't get the eggs. So it just comes back. It's a vicious cycle. To really get rid of worms properly takes 3-6 months believe it or not. And with kids it's a pain.

      What I have used with great success is the following which is available at any health food store. Get a herbal parasite cleanse. This should be a capsule (not tablet) composed of an assortment of ingredients but will always include Black Walnut and usually Wormwood. Most of the other ingredients are there to help with the gas and bloating that occurs from the die-off. If you don't find one you like just buy black walnut capsules for the adults and the tincture(drops) for the kids. Take these well before you eat, as directed for 2 or 3 weeks.

      Also get a liver cleanser to take at the same time. This is best taken as a tincture (drops) and will contain Dandelion and Milk thistle among other ingredients. (Gaia and Herbfarm are two good tincture manufacturers). Take that as directed as well.

      Lastly, you would also be well served taking and acidophiles supplement as well.

      Now once you have done the 3 weeks. Take a one week break and then repeat again for another 3 weeks. That is usually enough but if not go one week off again before doing another TWO weeks to finish.

      Longer than that is VERY hard on your liver so you do not want just take it indiscriminately.

      Also, if you had the worms for a while, when they die-off, it can cause lots of cramping and bloating. The first time I had this I thought I may need to go to the hospital but it tends to be short lived, half a day or so. (If you get that you know you killed them for sure.)

      The amino acid cysteine bonds with heavy metals, so adding cysteine to your diet as a supplement or as a food is a very good idea. The wiki entry has a listing of different foods that contain higher levels of cysteine (eggs are a personal favorite of mine, for instance - good sources of protein, good source of nutrition, taste great).

      Without water you can't flush anything out, so drink lots of water. Sweating, preferably through excercise, and urination are the only ways you can "flush" anything out of your system (in the way that you mean flush).

      Most chemical cleansers are combinations of different herbs that have diuretic properties. If you consume an herb that makes your urinate more, you will drink more water. Ergo, the flush. That said, why not just drink water? You're on the right track, there. Herbs are drugs, and you should be careful about what drugs you put into your body. Just because they're natural doesn't mean they're safe. Caffeine is a diuretic - drink some coffee or an energy drink if you need that kind've thing.

      Water doesn't have to be distilled - as long as its reasonably clean you're okay. Your body has built in purifiers (liver, kidneys, etc), and they can handle some trace elements and a bit of salt in your water.

      Enemas are a waste of time, as far as "cleansing" or "flushing" goes.

      EDIT: Do NOT eat 2 cups of nutmeg! WTF are you thinking? This will accelerate your heart, could potentially make you feel like fainting or like your chest is pounding or your heart is in your throaght, you will probably get the sweats.... this is a reallly really really really bad idea. Nutmeg is an herb that is used as a spice, and is to be used carefully when cooking, and certainly not to be used in large quantities!

      Jeez... just be safe, okay? You can purify your body by eating less processed foods (no fast food!), drinking lots of water, getting plenty of good sleep, and excercising at a healthy level for your age and medical condition. There are no silver bullets, no magic compounds that will "do it all" for you, no electroshock therapy treatments at a spa that will "purify" you, it takes some dedication but it can be done.

      There are a lot of people who want to take shortcuts, who don't want to spend the time it takes to do it right. These shortcuts are either ineffective, fraudulent, or dangerous. 'Nuff said.

    How do I detox my body?
    I'd like to flush out my body and detox. I've heard there are several ways to do it. I know drinking a ton of water is a way, but I'd like to try any other methods that are safe?

      Cleansing and detoxing have absolutely no medical benefit and are in fact harmful to the digestive tract.
      There is no "build up" of bad plaque or sludge in a normal system. If this was the case we would have people dying left and right from malnutrition since their bodies couldn't absorb nutrients.
      Since we reabsorb most of the water in our food and drink through the large intestine, If it was coated with toxic plaque we would all be sloshing around like sponges yes?
      Our liver and kidneys aren't clogged with toxins. Otherwise we would be dead. The liver does not store toxins of any kind and in fact filters them out of the bloodstream and sends them into the waste stream. Heavy metals and other environmental toxins can if fact concentrate in the liver but this is rare. The liver does in fact get layered with fat if we become overweight.
      We "cleanse and detox" 24 hours a day through respiration, sweat, liver, and kidneys..
      You didn't mention a diet. We can help detox by eating a healthy diet with minimal added sugar and salt. Lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grain foods, beans, peas, and brown rice keep a system as healthy as it can be.

      Many beauty products on the market have harmful chemicals in them; do your favorite beauty products contain any of these things?:

      * Mineral Oil, Paraffin & Petrolatum – Petroleum products coat the skin like plastic, clogging pores and creating a build-up of toxins, which in turn accumulate and can lead to dermatological issues, like slowing cellular development, which can cause you to show earlier signs of aging. Suspected cause of cancer & Disruptive of hormonal activity.

      * PARABENS – Widely used as preservatives in the cosmetic industry (including moisturizers). An estimated 13,200 cosmetic and skin care products contain parabens. Studies implicate their connection with cancer. They have hormone-disrupting qualities – mimicking estrogen – and interfere with the body’s endocrine system.

      * Phenol carbolic acid – Found in many lotions and skin creams. Can cause circulatory collapse, paralysis, convulsions, coma and even death from respiratory failure.

      * Propylene glycol – Used as a moisturizer in cosmetics and as a carrier in fragrance oils. Shown to cause dermatitis, kidney or liver abnormalities, may inhibit skin cell growth, and is a skin irritant and sensitizer.

      * Acrylamide – Found in many hand and face creams. Linked to mammary tumors in lab research.

      * Sodium laurel or lauryl sulfate (SLS), also known as sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) – Found in car washes, engine degreasers, garage floor cleaners… and in over 90% of personal care products! SLS breaks down the skin’s moisture barrier, easily penetrates the skin, and allows other chemicals to easily penetrate. Combined with other chemicals, SLS becomes a “nitrosamine”, a potent class of carcinogen. It can also cause hair loss. SLES is sometimes disguised with the labeling “comes from coconut” or “coconut-derived" - and is found in many popular body washes and toothpastes!

      * Toluene – Poison! Danger! Harmful or fatal if swallowed! Harmful if inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Made from petroleum or coal tar, and found in most synthetic fragrances. Chronic exposure linked to anemia, lowered blood cell count, liver or kidney damage, and may affect a developing fetus. Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) contains toluene. Other names may include benzoic and benzyl.

      * WAXES - Such as Paraffin, Candelilla Wax, Carnuba Wax: Waxes are widely used in cleansing creams, eye creams, and moisturizers. Waxes clog pores, creating blackheads and whiteheads. They also smother the skin, which over time creates an enlarged pore problem.

      * Lanolin - A yellow, semi-solid, fatty secretion from sheep’s wool is widely used in skin and beauty care products. It can cause an allergic reaction in some people, as well as enlarged pores.

      * Acetone - Used in nail polish and nail polish removers, this colorless, volatile liquid is often used in astringents, fresheners, or clarifying lotions. It is extremely toxic and will dehydrate the skin, while speeding up the aging process.

      * ALCOHOLS - Such as Isopropyl Alcohol, SD Alcohol 40, Ethyl Alcohol: Alcohols dissolve the body’s natural moisturizers and strip the skin of its protection, leaving it vulnerable to infection. Alcohols destroy skin’s pH balance, and since they absorb water, they speed up wrinkling.

      * FD&C - When this abbreviation precedes the name of a color, it means that the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has certified it as safe for use in drugs and cosmetics, but not food. D&C colors are usually synthetic, coal tar colors. They’re toxic and should be avoided when at all possible.

      * Dioxane – Found in compounds known as PEG, Polysorbates, Laureth, ethoxylated alcohols. Common in a wide range of personal care products. The compounds are usually contaminated with high concentrations of highly volatile 1,4-dioxane, easily absorbed through the skin. Dioxane’s carcinogenicity was first reported in 1965 and later confirmed in studies including one from the National Cancer Institute in 1978. Nasal passages and liver are the most vulnerable. Dioxane is easily removed during the manufacturing process by “vacuum stripping”.

      Warning: It is a synthetic derivative of coconut. Watch for hidden language on labels, such as “comes from coconut”.

      IF SO, you should throw them away IMMEDIATELY and Tell ALL your friends and family!!! (Extra-virgin olive and/or coconut oils are great alternative moisturizers, and they contain natural sunscreens, until you find something else without these toxins) Hope this helps!!! Good luck!!!!!

    Is it safe to do the master cleanse if your hypothyroid?
    my ma has an underactive thyroid but gets really bad headaches so is trying the MC. is this ok? will it have neg effects on thyroid condition?

    • ANSWER:
      The master cleanse?!! I've just looked it up and you have to drink maple syrup, lemon and cayenne pepper. So it's basically peppery lemonade. How exactly is that supposed to cleanse anything?! Your liver and kidneys very efficiently get rid of 'toxins' so unless you are in liver or kidney failure then 'detox' is an absolute scam - there's no such thing. I have no idea what the effect on thyroid medication would be, but since it is a complete waste of time my advice would be not to bother.

    What is the safest liver detox/cleanse I can buy?
    Can you please share with me your experiences with liver detox. Is it really safe and do you feel much better after the cleanse. If you have used a brand you like please let me know.

      I've read alot on fitness boards, guys that use oral roids use milk thistle to counter the negatives. Thats the only thing I've heard of.
